If you happen to be one of the poor, unfortunate souls who lives in California yet you enjoy and respect firearms, then this will come as extremely welcomed news. Springfield Armory is releasing Cali-Compliant Hellcat, Hellcat Pro, and XD-M Elite 4.5″ 9mm handgun offerings. So, now whether you live in that crazy restrictive state or not, you can enjoy yourself some Springfield Armory goodness.

Springfield Armory @ TFB:

All 3 of these new pistol variants will come with two 10-round magazines, feature magazine disconnect safeties (as required in Cali), and will tout specifically designed loaded chamber indicators to meet California’s strict handgun requirements. The XD-M Elite 4.5” 9mm will also have a deleted extended/flared magwell (unlike the rest of the XD-M Elite line). Other than those notable changes, these pistols have all the performance capabilities and rugged durability of their non-California-compliant siblings.

  • Cali-Compliant Hellcat 9mm | HC9319BOSPCA | MSRP $633
  • Cali-Compliant Hellcat Pro 9mm | HCP9379BOSPCA | MSRP $649
  • Cali-Compliant XD-M Elite 4.5” 9mm | XDME9459BCA | MSRP $609

Geneseo, Illinois – January 11th, 2024 – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the launch of California-compliant variants of the Hellcat®, Hellcat® Pro and XD-M® Elite 9mm pistols.

“These new California-compliant pistols give residents of the state of California an opportunity to own their own versions of some truly innovative and exceptional handguns,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “From two of the most popular EDC-ready pistols on the market — the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro — to the highly refined and advanced XD-M Elite 9mm, California residents now have a host of impressive options for their collections.”

California is a 21st century wild, wild west when it comes to what firearms are legal and what can or cannot get you in trouble. Their gun laws might be like Upside-Down-Land, but there still exist firearm-loving residents against all odds. As always, let us know all of your thoughts about Springfield Armory and the Cali-Compliant versions of the Hellcat, Hellcat Pro, and XD-M Elite in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

I'm sure these are fine guns, but labeling them "CA compliant" pretty much kicks them down in perceived quality. I have seen ads for super-soakers and nerf guns that pique my interest more.

Folks talk crap (and most of the time rightly so) about CA. I've been here for 30 years aside from a 2yr stint in NY, and I'm just happy to finally have a modern firearm here. Though I've been shooting Springfields for nearly two decades, I ended up going with Sig's M18's and P365's, two of each. Both models already had few thousands rounds through each in the past month and now both are added to my CCW, along with identical copies that I will use weekly at the range without have to baby them. Coming from ancient XD's models, it's a breath of fresh air. And regarding them being "CA-legal"... on Sigs it takes just a few seconds to remove silly mag-disconnect features and I'll eventually get new slides without the lame chamber loaded indicators that keep f-in' up optic windows. That makes them "standard" models aside from 10-round mags (and of course the premium $100-200 price hike BS). But let me tell you - after having no modern handguns available for as long as I can remember, I'm a happy camper.
