POTD: The New Steyr DMR 762

    STEYR DMR 762

Photo Of The Day – The DMR rifles are increasing in popularity. The term stands for Designated Marksman Rifle and generally speaking, it’s a modern precision rifle in semi-automatic configuration, with a fancy riflescope on top. It fills the need between an ordinary rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, to accurately hit targets in the region between 300-600 meters, and sometimes longer. Steyr Arms GmbH (Germany) has a new DMR 762. I understand that the upper is monoblock, making it more accurate.

    tough – rigid – reliable

The STEYR DMR 762 is a fully metal rifle weighing less than 4 kg and delivering sub-MOA precision. The folding and adjustable stock increases the rifles transportability.

The stock is adjustable to six positions, in total the rifle can be elongated by up to 82mm.

No tools are needed for changing the position of the charging handle. The charging handle is incorporated in the handguard and serves as forward assist.

M-LOK slots at 3, 6 and 9 o‘clock allow mounting of various attachments.

Its compact yet robust design, combined with the precision of a sniper rifle, makes it a compelling alternative for next generation hunters.

The DMR 762 is a sporting rifle. I don’t think it’s available in the U.S. yet.
