Ruger might be a relative upstart compared to Smith & Wesson, Colt or Remington, but it’s been around a long, long time—75 years, in fact, as of 2024. And to celebrate this milestone, the crew at Ruger is set to party hearty with four new commemorative firearms. We are getting two pistols, a special-edition LCP MAX and a Mark IV, and two different commemorative takes on the 10/22 rimfire rifle.

You’ve seen all these firearms before. The Mark IV is descended from .22 LR pistol design that has sold so well for Ruger for so long – since the company opened up in 1949, actually. Made in Prescott, Arizona, this version of the pistol has a fully adjustable rear sight and undercut Partridge front sight, combined with a heavy, tapered barrel. There’s a commemorative logo on the receiver and bolt, and Ruger added fully checkered grips to give this pistol a look that owners will be proud of.

The LCP MAX is more utilitarian, a slightly blinged-up take on Ruger’s modern carry pistol. This, too, comes with commemorative logos, and a bit of flash added elsewhere, with a stainless steel slide and silver-anodized aluminum trigger. The other practical features of the LCP MAX are present here – tritium front sight for low visibility, reversible mag release, and so on. These pistols are made in the Mayodan, North Carolina plant, and come chambered in .380 Auto.

As for the 10/22 rifles, made in Newport, New Hampshire: These rifles each have a stainless steel barrel and silver-finish receiver, and once again, the 75th-anniversary logo treatment. Both have a hardwood stock with match-sanded butt pad, and sling swivels installed front and rear. The difference is in the finish; Model 31275 has a stained/checkered stock, while Model 41275 has an unstained stock, with darkened checkering. Of course, each rifle is chambered in .22 LR.

Commemoratives for reasonable cash

You might think you’d pay big bucks for these commemorative firearms, but Ruger’s website says “While each of these firearms is tastefully embellished with Ruger 75th Anniversary markings, they are all intentionally priced to be affordable for the ‘average, working American citizen to afford,’ echoing the vision that Bill Ruger had for his products 75 years ago.” That means a $399 MSRP for the 10/22 rifles, a $479 MSRP for the LCP MAX and a $599 MSRP for the Mark IV.
