FN Adds New 5.7×28 Ammunition Offerings

FN Adds New 5.7x28 Ammunition Offerings

The 5.7×28 renaissance continues with two new ammo options from FN. One is the SS200 defensive load available to civilian and governmental purchasers alike, and the other is a more affordable training load. Let’s dive into the specifics.

    5.7×28 @ TFB:

The SS200 DFNS personal protection load features a 30-grain jacketed hollow point bullet. This bullet design is a “frangible copper-tin metal core with copper jacket.” FN claims it has been independently verified to meet the FBI handgun ammunition testing standard. The published velocity numbers are 1,894 FPS from the Five-seveN pistol and 2,240 FPS from the PS90. It is available in a 50 round box with an MSRP of $39.99, or a 500-round case.

Turning to plinking and practice ammo, the SS201 GUNR is a 40-grain FMJ load. FN lists the velocity from a Five-seveN pistol as 1,700 FPS, and 2,040 FPS from the 16-inch PS90. The MSRP for the SS201 loading is only 26.99 for a box of 50 rounds. A 500-round case is also available (MSRP not listed).

Both the SS200 and SS201 are available for commercial, military, or law enforcement purchase.
