Weatherby Vanguard Talus Bolt-Action Rifle
Within the last couple of weeks, Weatherby released a number of new products including new versions of their bolt-action rifles such as the Model 370 MeatEater, Mark V High Country and Vanguard Outfitter. The rifle we are taking a look at in this article, Weatherby Vanguard Talus, is the final launch in this series of new product announcements. This new Vanguard is similar to Vanguard High Country but features an updated Cerekote hand-applied sponge paint and a spiral-fluted barrel.

Weatherby Vanguard Talus rifle has a one-piece forged and machined receiver with an integral recoil lug. The straight-fluted two-lug bolt has a spring-loaded plunger ejector, M16-style extractor and fully enclosed sleeve. The safety is three-position and the two-stage trigger is adjustable with the lightest pull weight being 2.5 lbs. The barrels are cold hammer forged. The barreled action is finished with Cerakote of Patriot Brown and Graphite Black colors and the black polymer Monte Carlo stock has Rust Brown, Smoke and Stone sponge paint.
Weatherby Vanguard Talus rifles are available in one of the following chambering options: .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, .25-06 Remington, .257 Weatherby Magnum, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum, .270 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, 7mm Remington Magnum, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .300 Weatherby Magnum. The barrel length options are 24″ or 26″. Depending on the caliber and barrel length, the magazine capacity can be three, four or five rounds and the overall length and weight vary from 44″ to 48.5″ and 6.75 lbs to 7.25 lbs.
The MSRP of the Weatherby Vanguard Talus rifle is $949 for all caliber options. Like all Vanguard rifles, the Vanguard Talus is guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99” or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby® factory or premium ammunition within Two-Years of Verified Purchase Date to Original Purchaser.
