TLR-VIR II External Focusing Lens by Goonin Gear LLC and VWS

Do you have a Streamlight TLR-VIR II as your budget night vision aiming laser? Do you find the IR illuminator to be a little underwhelming? Well, Goonin Gear LLC and Villain Weapon Systems have been collaborating on an External Focusing Lens for the Streamlight TLR-VIR II.

External Focusing Lens on TLR-VIR II

Villain Weapon Systems and Goonin Gear LLC have been teasing this collab of an external focusing lens for the Streamlight TLR-VIR II. Villain Weapon Systems has been making External Focusing Lenses for devices like the L3 Atpial-C which has a rather anemic infrared illuminator. By focusing the IR illuminator with an External Focusing Lens no permanent modification is required.

From the photos they have posted on Instagram, it seems that the External Focusing Lens has an offset lens specifically for focusing the infrared illuminator but it does not affect the white led. The External Focusing lens is just a slip-over 3D-printed housing. Most likely printed in multi-jet fusion. It looks like it has a cross bolt to tighten the housing onto the TLR-VIR II bezel to keep the External Focusing Lens in position.

The picture below shows promise with the External Focusing Lens.

We shall see if it really is as bright as a full-power PEQ-15. It will also be interesting to see what effect the External Focusing Lens has on the white light beam pattern. The EFL does add a decent amount of material to the bezel of the TLR-VIR II. I suspect dedicated holsters will not work with it but maybe universal holsters like the Blackhawk Omnivore might still work. Or maybe you can use a holster for a TLR-1 since the bezel on that light is wider than the TLR-VIR II.

I have one in hand that I will be reviewing so look forward to that soon.
