The full force of the intense summer heat is out this year and I’m looking for almost any way to stave off the sweat before we finally make it to fall. One way I’ve found that works well is to just not go outside and instead take more time to restock and refine my gear and gun selection for following range trips. This summer has been one almost completely dominated by 9mm and 5.56/.223 for me (with the obvious addition of copious amounts of .22LR in my specific case). However, there are always a few odds and ends I’m looking for that I’m really just waiting for the right price on. I’ve included a couple of my personal selections down below as well as recommendations from both our TFB staff and our faithful TFBTV Discord supporters. PMC Bronze has often been my “go-to” all-purpose ammunition that I can use for training, range fun, and general preparedness. In my experience, it’s incredibly consistent, burns fairly clean, and the 55-grain variant works in most of my rifles without issue. 49 cents per round ain’t exactly cheap but it’s as close to pre-COVID pricing as I could find.

The 5.11 Range Ready bag is probably always going to be at the top of my list when it comes to range bags simply because it’s the one I use the most and provides me with the most while I’m at the range. This range bag is absolutely gigantic and has a generously sized main compartment perfect for storing ammunition, ear pro, and firearms, while its side pockets are great for storing tools, spare magazines, and other accessories you might want to bring with you to the range. Absolutely my favorite range bag hands down and well worth the money you’ll spend on it over no-name brand range bags.

SAVIOR EQUIPMENT AMERICAN CLASSIC TACTICAL DOUBLE RIFLE BAG
Savior Equipment makes some really great bags for just about any type and size of firearm. However, one of my favorite bags from them is one that I’ve been using quite a bit lately and that is their American Classic Tactical Double Rifle bag. This bag has an interior divider for two rifles or shotguns as well as 6 outer pockets for storing extra magazines or boxes of ammunition. I’ve also found that the bag itself can serve as an ad-hoc shooting mat if opened completely.

This one has so many cool features and carries literally everything on your back. The only thing holding me back from buying one of these is the price.
