@hacedeca I can't speak to the US situation, but the Manitoba Police use 10mm to euthanize moose after car accidents.

@Aono What do you expect him to do, talk about the inferior aspects of his extruded upper, polymer lower, straight blowback subguns that people are willing to pay $2k+ for? :p

Sounds like a hedge against future products to me. If/when B&T does release a delayed-unlocking subgun, I doubt they will still struggle to explain the obvious reasons that justify the design.

@Aono After years of wondering WTF B&T would develop so many derp blowbacks when the TP9 seems better in every way except its trigger, it restored my faith in Mr. Brugger when he admitted to James the TP9 is his favorite.

His comments in this video can either be construed technically, calling into question his knowledge (unlikely), or economically - i.e. "We say why should we bust our butts perfecting something complex when we can drop a ~$150 buffer thingy in a slicked-up STEN and get people (including the frickin' US Army!) to pay the same or more" - a valid and indeed astute question.

As much as I love 10mm, shudder at people paying a fortune for blowbacks, and have given a lot of thought to delayed designs in that chambering, I'm beginning to think that delayed blowback (known for excelling when fed a narrow range of ammo specs) is not a great fit for a cartridge that varies from mediocre .40 to hot .357 or .460 Rowland performance.

@PDWSmith That's a good point, but it's not that different than the same locking piece angle problem applied to roller-delayed guns when adding/subtracting a can, etc in other calibers. If the goal is mechanical delay then the system should still accommodate different amounts of delay. Don't car if rollers, levers, pistons or what have you, but I do know the problem isn't solved with a buffer.

@Aono Then they will justify why they start at the better part of $3k instead of $2k like the straight blowback guns.

@Aono Cans and all the other variables you could introduce with a 9 apply equally to 10. 9 not only has a much narrower variation in power, but is typically operated within a range that is narrower still. People / units buy 9 because it is cheap, ubiquitous, and the NATO standard and use fairly similar ammo for training and defense. People / units buy 10 (which is none of those things) because it is hot and carry hot when it counts (otherwise, what's the point?), but often train with lower-end ammo because it's more expensive to begin with.

Locked-breech is probably the way to go - now if only my Form 1 would come back!
