In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves interviews Karl Brugger, founding member of B&T AG, about his invention, the B&T APC-10.

Looking for the new extended 10mm magazines from B&T? They’re here: https://bt-parts.com/apc10-spc10-magazine-30-rounds-10mm/

The B&T APC-10 is a submachine gun manufactured by the Swiss firearms company B&T AG (formerly known as Brugger & Thomet AG). The APC-10 is a scaled-up version of the company’s APC-9 submachine gun and is chambered for the 10mm Auto cartridge.

The APC-10 features a compact design with a polymer lower receiver and an upper receiver made of aluminum alloy. It has a closed bolt blowback operating system, a hydraulic recoil buffer system, and a miniaturized bolt assembly that allows for a shorter overall length. The gun is also equipped with a folding stock and a Picatinny rail for the attachment of accessories such as optics and lights.

The APC-10 is designed primarily for use by law enforcement and military personnel, as well as civilian enthusiasts who are looking for a reliable and accurate submachine gun for sport or self-defense purposes.

Why is there this supposed demand for 10 mm in the US?

I thought the 9 mm ist the old/new king - the military and all...

    Ok, I don't get the military point, because the Russian 9 mm AP is a 9 x 21 (!)... and this is a .40 S&W or slightly bigger a 10 mm. And if the Russians can't do this 9 x 19...

But I thought, AP ammunition is out of civilian hands in the US anyway. So, this leaves me a bit confused. Can anybody help?

@hacedeca Some of it is demand for a round capable of defense against 2 and 4 legged predators even if that's arguably more about ammunition selection than caliber.

Some of it is the often aggrandized 'stopping power' of 10mm.

Some of it is just gun manufacturers hoping to sell guns to a market that loaded up on 9mm pistols during 2 years of panic buying.

I doubt that 10mm ammunition is more than a small fraction of the US ammo market, but that's a small fraction of a big market.

Karl: "People are complaining, oh it's not roller delayed, what a piece it is. We say yeah why should we go to a roller-delayed system if we manage with the hydraulic buffer similar or better results while being much more reliable..."

Because buffers don't delay bolt unlock. Does the guy whose namesake is literally one of if not the largest suppressor manufacturer on the planet, actually not understand this? Dumb stance no matter how you slice it.
