Welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 22! The concept of the “perfect pair” isn’t anything new but it’s still one that optimizes efficiency in terms of compatible magazines. Magazines, although considered by many to be expendable or consumable firearms part, do still cost quite a bit of money and just a dozen of them can set you back hundreds of dollars depending on the firearm you’re trying to feed. Today we’re going to be focusing on getting you pair of firearms that use the same magazines so that you can spend less on magazines, and more on ammunition and training with your firearms.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 22: Perfect Pairs (Guns That Use The Same Magazine)
The Ruger SR9 and Ruger PC Carbine
One of my favorite combos on the list purely because of how much I like the PC Carbine. Even James Reeves of TFBTV tends to agree with me on this one despite his initial hesitation towards the PC Carbine. Both the pistol and the rifle are dead nuts reliable, affordable, and take the same 17-round magazines. If you’re working on a budget and like to have magazines shared between your pistol and rifle, this is both an affordable and a winning combo.
Ruger SR9 9mm Luger 4.14in Stainless/Black Pistol – 17+1 Rounds – The Ruger SR9 is perfectly sized to be comfortable and controllable with a slim, ergonomic grip and narrow slide. The structurally rigid, recoil-reducing, glass-filled nylon frame and stainless-steel slide combine to create a low-maintenance, rugged and reliable handgun. The SR9 also includes modern safety features like an internal trigger bar interlock and striker blocker, trigger safety, magazine disconnect, and a visual loaded chamber indicator. Also featuring a unique reversible back strap, ambidextrous manual safety and magazine release, integrated picatinny rail, and adjustable high-visibility 3-dot sight system.
The Ruger PC Carbine comes with interchangeable magazine wells that accept the readily available Ruger and Glock magazines. Ships with SR-Series Pistol and Security-9 magazine well installed and an additional magazine well accepting Glock magazines is included. Easy takedown enables quick separation of the barrel/forend assembly from the action for ease of transportation and storage. Takedown is as simple as locking the bolt back and verifying that the rifle is unloaded, pushing a recessed lever, twisting the subassemblies and pulling them apart. Dead blow action features a custom tungsten dead blow weight that shortens bolt travel and reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise. Bolt is machined from heat treated, chrome-moly steel to ensure strength, structural integrity and durability.
The Kel-Tec PMR30 and CMR30
These two firearms are some of my favorites when it comes to 22WMR. The Kel-Tec CMR30 carbine is a great potential host for an SBR but its 16″ configuration can really flesh out the maximum performance that the 22WMR cartridge offers. Meanwhile, the PMR30 uses the same mags, still gets serviceable performance from 22WMR cartridges (especially Federal’s Punch 22WMR), and is optics-ready with the use of an affordable adapter. A great rimfire combo for the plinking or varmint hunting enthusiast.
The PMR-30 is a light weight, full size pistol chambered for the flat-shooting .22Magnum cartridge (.22WMR). The PMR-30 operates on a unique hybrid blowback/locked-breech system. This operation system allows for the use of a wide variety of ammunition as it seamlessly adjusts between locked breech and blowback operation, depending on the pressure of the cartridge. It uses a double stack magazine of a new design that holds 30 rounds and fits completely in the grip of the pistol. The trigger is a crisp single action with an over-travel stop. The manual safety is a thumb activated ambidextrous safety lever (up for SAFE, down for FIRE). The slide locks back after the last shot and a manual slide lock lever is also provided. The light, crisp trigger pull and fiber optic sights make the PMR-30 ideal for target shooting and hunting small game. Slide and barrel are 4140 steel, frame is 7075 aluminum. Grip, slide cover, trigger, mag release, and safety levers are glass reinforced Nylon (Zytel), much like other Kel-Tec Pistols. Magazine is Also Zytel and holds 30 rounds, with round count ports.
You’re looking at a .22 Magnum carbine that holds 30 rounds in each of its two flush fit magazines. That’s a lot of firepower for a 3.8 lb, semi-automatic, collapsible truck gun. It comes out of the box as you see it, including Magpul sights and ambidextrous, non-reciprocating dual operating handles. She’s a straight blow-back tack driver that delivers a ton of fun. Designed for lightweight, low recoil accuracy, the CMR30 features a nice, single-action trigger, ambidextrous dual non-reciprocating operating handles, ambidextrous safety and heel catch magazine release. The straight blow-back operation ensures reliability and it runs great suppressed.
The Glock 17 Gen 3 and Basically Every 9mm Ar-9 Ever
Love em’ or hate em’, Glock pistols are extremely popular, simple, reliable, and durable – there really isn’t anything better in terms of raw value for a simple handgun. Meanwhile, just about every PCC out there including nearly all AR-9 style rifles and braced pistols will use Glock magazines or any of the many aftermarket offerings out there – this makes training with an AR-style rifle much more affordable than its 5.56/.223 counterpart and also gives you cross-compatibility with your pistol, further reducing the cost of training supplies.
Designed for professionals, the Glock 17 is trusted by law enforcement officers and military personnel around the globe because of its unsurpassed reliability, optimal magazine capacity of 17 rounds in the standard magazine and its low weight. With the signature “Safe Action” trigger system, the Glcok 17 9mm pistol is safe, easy, and quick – precisely what you need in critical situations.
