10mm ain’t dead yet. That’s right, SIG Sauer has just dropped the new XTEN 10mm P320 pistol. The new pistol will feature a brand new 5″ bull barrel, an all-new XSeries grip module, and an optics-ready slide that is all set to mount some of the toughest pistol-mounted optics in the industry. This new 10mm pistol has been floating around the internet and at SIG’s various Freedom Days events but is now officially being launched as a brand new product line to cater to those who favor the heavy-hitting 10mm round.

The new full-size pistol is quite large and appeals more to the outdoorsmen and hunting community than concealed carriers or those looking for a home defense weapon. The new XTEN comes with two 15-round magazines that are similar in dimensions to the .45 caliber offerings of the P320. To answer the question of burning a hole through your head right now, yes, the SIG P320 XTEN FCU will be able to be swapped into other grip modules within the P320 family including offerings in other calibers. However, according to SIG, other P320 FCUs likely won’t fit inside the P320 XTEN’s grip module.

The all-new XSeries Grip module looks and feels very similar to the P320 XCarry Legion 9mm grip module and this should give the XTEN more controllable recoil. However, if you like to carry 10mm when out on patrol of the homestead and want to practice with less expensive ammunition, the XTEN has also been demonstrated to have great reliability with .40S&W ammunition.

Hopefully, the release of the new SIG P320 XTEN means that they will also be developing the concept further and perhaps offering more configurations including lighter and more compact 10mm pistols within the XTEN lineup. As always, we’d like to hear your thoughts on the new 10mm pistol from SIG. What do you think about the new SIG P320 XTEN?

    BFD!
Another 10mm to not be excited about. When the Bren10 was made Norma made *real* 10mm ammo. Today’s 10mm ammo is downrated & mostly just 40S&W+P, hideously more expensive, and you can marvel at the “brass shuffle” 10mm shooters do desperately trying to salvage their brass. Hilarious!

@Hatman1793 If you're having trouble finding "real" 10mm Auto, try Underwood Ammo if it's available. They load 10mm Auto to "full-power" specs.

The "brass shuffle" is likely done by handloaders trying to make the most use of their brass by reloading it.

What is a 10mm to be excited about to you, then?
