The Aimpoint ACRO P2 has been a very highly sought-after pistol red dot for people here in the states. While I still haven’t formed a concrete opinion on the mailbox-shaped optic, others out there are already making accessories for the optic to enhance its durability. TangoDown Inc is now offering a new ACRO P2 Lens Guard Kit that helps to add an additional layer of protection as well as prevent annoying smudges that might result from racking the slide using the optic as a grip.

Aimpoint ACRO P2 Lens Guard Available Now From TangoDown
The TangoDown ACRO P2 Lens Guard Kit will feature precision CNC machined aluminum frames finished off with a Type III hard coat anodizing and can be easily attached and removed from your optic with the provided stainless steel screws. The Lens Guard adds a little bit of extra bulk on the front of the optic and as a result, may not fit with all direct mount options currently out there, however, TangoDown is currently in the process of working on a Direct Cut P2 Lens Guard model that should be out soon to accommodate for this fact.
The Aimpoint® ACRO® P2 is rapidly becoming the ‘go-to’ red dot optic for professional working pistols. The rugged closed-emitter design and aerospace grade aluminum case has proven to take a beating that sidelines competitors. That said, the front lens is front and center for taking potential damaging impact. The good news is, it is easily replaced at minimal charge. The bad news, it has to go back to the factory for that service. Avoid the hassle and protect your expensive red dot with our P2 Lens Guard.
The Aimpoint ACRO P2 Lens Guard Kit from TangoDown is currently available online in a black anodized finish for a price of $42. Before you pick one up and try to slap it on your Aimpoint ACRO P1, just be aware that TangoDown has specifically stated on their website that these lens covers will not fit the P1.
What are your thoughts on this aftermarket addition for the ACRO P2? From where I sit, this seems like a decent peace of mind addition that should help prevent you from wasting days or weeks while your front lens is being replaced by Aimpoint if you happen to scratch or crack it.
