The 2022 Winter Olympics kicked off at the beginning of February and with the start of this huge event came one of my favorite Winter Olympic sports of all time – the Biathlon. For those that don’t know, the Biathlon is a tandem event that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. This event was officially introduced in 1960 as part of the winter games. The end results this year revealed one curious statistic that firearms owners may be interested to hear – all of the gold medalists for the 2022 Winter Olympics Beijing Biathlon events used an Anschütz rifle!

100% of Gold Medalists at the 2022 Beijing Biathlon Used this Gun

In addition to 100% of gold medalists using their rifles for their wins during the Beijing Biathlon, 52 out of the 60 medalists also used Anschütz rifles for the event. Anschütz firearms have been used for Olympic sporting events for decades and are considered by many to be some of the best rifles and pistols for that specific sport for their combination of accuracy and user customization. These highly complex rifles are often made to order for one specific athlete. The 1827 F Bionic rifle was featured extensively during the event and its many improvements over previous Biathlon rifles most certainly gave the athletes the tools they needed to excel at this event.
