Ruger Introduces the New LCP MAX 380 Pistol

Ruger Introduces the New Ruger LCP MAX 380 Pistol

Ruger has announced the introduction of their latest offering to the concealed carry community – the LCP MAX. The LCP MAX is a slight departure from the swarm of 9mm micro-compact pistols we’ve seen start to flood the market and I think there are a lot of people who would be happy to pick up this improved .380 model. The new LCP MAX takes the same basic design and size as the LCP II and adds in a few improvements as well as an increase in magazine capacity.

So what’s the low-down on the new LCP MAX? Fans of the original LCP 380 pistol know that your maximum carrying capacity was a standard 6+1. Now, with improvements made to the LCP MAX, you can carry a total of 10+1 rounds of .380 ACP ammunition.

In addition to the magazine capacity increase, Ruger has also improved the pistol with raised cocking ears on the slide, improved slide serrations, a tritium front sight with the paired U-notch rear sight, improved magazine feed lips, feed ramp, extractor, and barrel cam geometries as well as a reversible magazine release.

With the new LCP MAX coming in at just $100 cheaper than the recently released MAX-9, I think a lot of people who have been holding out on joining the micro compact 9mm community will have a new option to improve their carrying capacity without switching to a different caliber. According to Ruger, the new LCP MAX will be able to fit all aftermarket BodyGuard-pattern sights, as well as most existing LCP II holsters. The pistol will ship with one single 10-round magazine, soft pocket holster, and one magazine loader. What are your thoughts on this new pistol? Would you trade in your LCP II for the LCP MAX?
