Taking Striker Fired Sigs to the Max
New from SIG Sauer Inc. this year is the SIG P320MAX. Replete with his logo on the side, this pistol seems to be the evolution of what Team Sig Captain, Top-Tier pistolero and US Army Veteran Max Michel has come up with. Based off the P320 X-Five Legion, the P320MAX sports a bull barrel, unique slide serrations, and a one-piece guide rod. All of this is topped off with a Romeo3MAX pistol optic. I could be wrong, but I do believe this was the configuration that Max Michel used in his win at the USPSA Area 5 competition this last fall in Kentucky.
The SIG SAUER P320MAX is a 9mm striker-fired pistol optimized for competition at the highest levels, specifically in the Carry Optics division. The pistol is built around the TXG tungsten infused heavy XFULL grip module with a flat skeletonized trigger. The SIG Custom Works P320MAX slide was completely redesigned with custom wrap-around serrations for ideal side and top manipulation and is fit with a 5” match grade bull barrel, one-piece stainless steel guide rod, and both a 14lb. and 12lb. 1911-style recoil spring, allowing for an easily customized shooting experience. The pistol comes standard with a SIG SAUER Electro-Optics 6MOA ROMEO3MAX, and 4EA 21rd Steel Magazines…enough for any competition set-up.
- Overall length: 8.5” (216mm)

Yes, it lacks iron sights, but this pistol is purpose built for competing in a very specific division of USPSA. For those of you in the USPSA/IPSC game, what say you? Is this pistol an interesting choice for the carry optics division? Out of the box, its a strong contender with 4 21-round magazines and a pre-mounted optic. It’s also not the first pistol Max Michel has had a hand in optimizing. His repertoire includes the SIG Sauer 1911 MAX. Check out Max’s amazing skills in action here.
