Rifle Dynamics RD 704 Pistol – Garand Thumb Edition
About a year ago, YouTuber Garand Thumb published a video review of a custom Rifle Dynamics AK pistol built to his specifications which he called “the best AK ever built“. Apparently, the AK featured in the video generated enough interest to make Rifle Dynamics offer it as a custom, Garand Thumb edition of their RD 704 pistol. Let’s see what features this gun packs.
The Rifle Dynamics Garand Thumb Edition RD 704 pistol is a stamped receiver AK chambered in 7.62x39mm. It has an 11.5″ barrel and an overall length of 30″ with the fully collapsed brace. The pistol is equipped with an AR-15 buffer tube and SB Tactical SBA3 brace. The muzzle is threaded with the 1/2×28 thread pitch and comes with a Dead Air Keymount muzzle brake attached that will allow quick installation of suppressors compatible with Dead Air’s QD interface. The pistol also features combined front sight and gas block as well as the Rifle Dynamics’ tunable gas system which thanks to the set screw integrated into the gas block, allows tuning the gas system to get the best performance with any particular load or configuration (e.g. suppressed or unsuppressed). The rails, bolts, bolt carriers and trigger mechanisms of these pistols are tuned by RD gunsmiths to ensure smooth and reliable operation. The Garand Thumb Edition RD 704 pistol also comes with an SLR Rifleworks 9″ M-LOK aluminum handguard set and Fuller rear sight modification. The latter is a rear sight with rounded edges and opened up notch designed to allow for a faster sight picture acquisition. The approximate overall weight without the magazine is 6 lbs 10 oz. The pistol comes with one 30-round magazine.
The price of the base version of Rifle Dynamics Garand Thumb Edition RD 704 pistol is $2,670. The base pistol comes with a standard AK safety selector, Tango Down BG-AK grip, and without a side scope rail, however, for an additional cost ($50-$150 depending on the added feature), you can order the pistol with a Krebs Custom safety selector, stippled grip, and a side scope rail. Standard color options include Manganese, Flat Black, Satin Black, Grey, Olive Drab, Foliage, Burnt Bronze, and FDE. The following optional colors can be ordered for $125: Ammo Can Green, Aircraft Carrier Grey, Graphite Grey, Black Forest, Metallic Olive, and Black Grape. The current lead time for building this pistol is 6 months.

Ouch, that's steep.
I've heard the name GarandThumb a few times in forums, but never watched any of the guy's stuff. I'm not inclined to buy anything endorsed or affiliated with a "Youtube Personality" though, as I find the whole concept of online celebrities and influencers weird and icky.
