Gunwerks, a company known for creating high-end precision bolt action rifles, has entered the dangerous game hunting rifle market by introducing the SKUHL rifle. The new Gunwerks SKUHL is designed to be a perfect tool for taking down the largest and most dangerous game animals on the planet such as the African Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo).

The Gunwerks SKUHL rifle is available chambered in .375 Ruger, .416 Ruger, or .338 Remington Ultra Magnum. The stainless steel 21″ barrel is threaded with the 5/8×24 thread pitch and comes with a Gunwerks Radial Brake installed. The barrel, along with the Gunwerks GLR stainless steel push feed action, features a battle-worn tungsten color Cerakote finish and laser engraved buffalo and bear skull motifs. The action is available in right- or left-handed configurations. The rifle comes with a Trigger Tech 2.5-lb trigger.

The stock of the SKUHL rifle has a negative comb angle which allows having a higher positioned recoil pad which in conjunction with the muzzle device mitigates the felt recoil and muzzle climb. The grip area of the stock is designed to fit a wide variety of hand sizes and work well both when you need to have a tight grip to control this beast offhand and when you need to make a longer range precise shot. The length of pull is 13.75″ with 14″, 14.25″ and 14.5″ LOPs available optionally. There is also a recessed Picatinny rail section at the very front of the forearm for mounting bipods.

A feature that jumps out immediately is the wood/carbon fiber appearance of the stock. Here is how the company describes the way they achieved it:

We took our favorite carbon ClymR stock and infused some class. The SKUHL stock features the same advanced carbon fiber structure with CNC machined bedding block, and a layer of flax fiber added into the composite layup. The painstaking process yields a beautiful blend with the performance of carbon, but the look and feel of a traditional wood stock. There’s simply nothing like it.

The Gunwerks SKUHL rifle is available with one of the following scopes that upon your order will come installed on the rifle in a Gunwerks Unity scope rings: Swarovski Z8i, Kahles K318i, Leupold Mark 5 3.6-18. According to the company, “with laser-etched ballistic turrets and matched ammunition, the traditional close quarters big bore rifle becomes a 600 yard-capable precision instrument“.
