Wilson Combat has expanded the EDC X9 handgun family by introducing the new EDC X9S 9x19mm subcompact pistol. With a slim gripless aluminum-frame and 10-round capacity in double-stack flush fit magazines, this handgun is designed to be a lightweight, compact and high capacity 1911-style concealed carry pistol.

The frames of Wilson Combat EDC X9S pistols are CNC machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum. They feature the X-Tac pattern machined on the grip and reduced slide rails for enhanced reliability. The pistol can be ordered with or without an accessory rail on the dust cover of the frame. The frame is assembled with new low profile Concealment Bullet Proof® thumb safety and magazine release button. The trigger pull weight is 3.5-4.5 lbs and there are three trigger length options available: short, medium, long.

The stainless steel slides of these pistols feature the company’s Enhanced Reliability System (ERS) designed for 9mm 1911 pistols which according to Wilson Combat “is tailored to the varying power levels of 9mm ammunition and maintains impressive reliability in all conditions, even when heavily fouled and low on lubrication“. The slides also feature external extractors, X-TAC rear cocking serrations, Concealment Battlesight rear sights, as well as replaceable front sights with green or red fiber optic, tritium or gold bead options. The 3.25” stainless steel match-grade barrels are fluted and feature flush-cut reverse crowns. The accuracy is guaranteed to be 1.5” at 25 yards.

If in dimensions EDC X9S is comparable to these polymer-framed pistols, in the weight department it is a bit heavier. The unloaded weight of the EDC X9S is 25.2 oz. Compared to the 18oz of Glock 43, 21.5oz of Glock 26 and 17.8oz of SIG P365, you get a roughly 4 to 7 oz heavier gun. Now, when it comes to subcompact carry pistols, weight (within reasonable limits) may not necessarily be a drawback allowing to absorb more recoil and make the gun more controllable.

One of the key factors of a reliably functioning semi-auto handgun is the magazine. The magazines used in EDC X9S are based on the general design of the EDC X9 mags which were developed in cooperation with Mec-Gar, one of the leading handgun magazine manufacturers in the industry. The EDC X9S pistols come with one flush fit 10-round magazine and one extended 15-round mag with a machined aluminum baseplate/grip extension.

The base price of Wilson Combat EDC X9S subcompact pistol is $2,695. I agree with what you are about to comment: it’s roughly 5 times more expensive than the subcompact pistols we were comparing its dimensions with. However, it should still be appealing to the audience who trusts the brand and opts for WC pistols in other sizes, too.
