[SHOT 2020] Black Aces Tactical Bullpup Pump Action 12 Gauge Shotgun

The latest addition to the Black Aces Tactical shotgun line is called The Bullpup Pump – a fairly self-explanatory name. This 12 gauge shotgun is based on a Turkish magazine-fed bullpup semi-auto shotgun converted by Black Aces Tactical into a spring-assisted pump-action gun.

I had a chance to shoulder this shotgun, work the action and manipulate the controls at Black Aces Tactical booth at SHOT Show 2020. Overall, the gun feels quite good – it’s compact and handy. Obviously, being a magazine-fed shotgun, it will be much faster to reload compared to shotguns with tubular magazines. Although there are semi-auto versions of pretty much the same shotgun, I can see people opting for the pump gun for the same main reason people choose pump-action shotguns in general – it’s a manual repeater and will keep cycling anything regardless of load type, weight and velocity as long as you don’t short stroke it. Last but not least, this is a 50 state legal gun!

The spring-assisted mechanism constantly applies tension on the bolt and keeps the action closed, however, there is no action bar lock mechanism so if you have a habit of pulling the handguard/VFG into your shoulder, you may need to readjust your weapon manipulation techniques not to open the action and have a click instead of a bang. Don’t get me wrong, if you do pull the trigger on the out-of-battery action, the gun won’t fire, so I am not talking about a safety issue but rather complaining about the lack of slide release that I am just used to having on pump guns.

Other features of this shotgun include the top Picatinny rail, ambidextrous magazine release button, bolt hold-open mechanism with the AR-style release paddle located above the magazine well, ambidextrous safety selector lever, and three QD sling swivel sockets on either side of the gun. The Bullpup Pump shotgun comes with two 5 round magazines. 10-round box magazines and 20-round drums are available separately on the company’s website. The shotgun has an 18.5″ barrel with a 3″ chamber and comes with three chokes. The overall length is 28″. This shotgun is available in right or left side ejecting configurations.

The MSRP of the black colored version of Bullpup Pump shotgun is $599. There are also 12 different color options which cost 80 bucks more – $679. The estimated start of shipping is late February.
