Daniel Defense has introduced two new AR-10 pattern rifles that are the hunting iterations of their DD5 series of rifles. The new rifles are called DD5 V4 Hunter and DD5 V5 Hunter. The main differences of DD5 Hunter rifles from the standard DD5s are the Kryptek Highlander camouflage and Geissele Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) two-stage trigger.

The differences between the V4 and V5 is that V5 is available in 6.5 Creedmoor and .260 Remington caliber options and comes with a 20″ barrel whereas the V4 has an 18″ barrel and in addition to the mentioned two chamberings is also available in .308 Winchester. Of course, these differences also determine the overall lengths and weights of the rifles. DD5 V4 Hunter weighs 8.6 lbs and is 39″ long. DD5 V5 Hunter has an overall length of 41 5/8″ and it weighs in at 8.9 lbs.

The upper and lower receivers of Daniel Defense DD5 Hunter series of rifles are CNC machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum. The magazine wells are flared and there is a rear QD sling swivel socket on the lower receiver. These rifles come equipped with chrome lined hammer forged barrels made of a Daniel Defense proprietary steel. The twist rates are as follows: 1:8″ (6.5 Creedmoor), 1:7″ (.260 Remington), 1:11″ (.308 Winchester). The muzzles are threaded with 5/8×24 thread pitch and the rifles come with Daniel Defense Superior Suppression Device muzzle devices. DD5 Hunter rifles are direct impingement firearms and feature pinned user adjustable gas blocks.

Other features of Daniel Defense DD5 Hunter rifles are the DLC coated bolt carrier groups, bolts with enhanced extractors and dual ejectors, the company’s GRIP-N-RIP ambidextrous charging handle, 15″ M-LOK handguards as well as Daniel Defense pistol grips and buttstocks. The rifles are compatible with SR-25 magazines. The V4 is shipped with one Magpul 5-round PMAG and with the V5 you’ll find a 10 round PMAG with a 5 round limiter.

The MSRPs for both DD5 V4 Hunter and DD5 V5 Hunter rifles and all the caliber options are identical – $2,933. The rifles are shipped in Daniel Defense Full-Latch Impact Plastic Cases.
