POTD: Kilo Coming Through

Time for some action in the Indian Ocean in this Photo Of The Day.

Here we see U.S Marine Corps Sgt. Christopher Sanders, a squad leader with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), as he posts the rear security during visit, board, search and seizure training.

This took place aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha.

Take note of the suppressor, which is nice to have in confined spaces like inside the metal of a ship, a.k.a. echo chamber.

I think this U.S. Marine likes the trash-metal band Slayer too, don’t ask me how I know.

The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th MEU are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.

Note the grenade launcher and the red dot sight attachment.
