POTD: Weapons Armament Research RMR Guard Prototype
Depicted in today’s POTD is the prototype of a Trijicon RMR red dot sight guard that is being developed by Weapons Armament Research. This little device basically combines an RMR mounting plate and a front frame designed to protect the lens from damage.
The company develops the RMR guard for Glock MOS and FN 509 Tactical pistols. They will be made of heat treated steel. The WAR RMR guard does not change the co-witnessing with the iron sights compared to factory RMR plates. I think this gadget will be especially useful when racking the slide single-handedly by catching an object with the RMR guard. The company is still experimenting with the materials that’s why there is no release date yet.
Let us know in the comments section what do you think about this device. Would you install one on your pistol? What price point do you think would be reasonable?
Lastly, here is a set of other images of the guard.

Seems like this is more for force on force training like airsoft than for regular firearm usage. Typically if a projectile is heading your way, be it a bullet or fragmentation, usually nothing short of armor is going to stop/slow it.
Trijicon already makes a Tenebraex cover. There's the jellyfish and airsoft covers that fit real RMR models that work great. All of which are lighter, won't displace the height of the optic, and of course cost less.
