Magnum Research, the proud producers of huge handguns, is at it again with another goliath caliber in a revolver. Their newest endeavor is complete by bringing to market their BFR (Biggest, Finest Revolver) in the monstrous .500 Linebaugh cartridge. If we ignore rifle cartridges that are melded into handgun platforms, the .500 Linebaugh is the biggest production handgun cartridge ever!

These new BFR models edge out their own Desert Eagles in .50 AE (.50 Action Express), and other BFR revolvers chambered in .500 Smith & Wesson as well. For a little more back story on the cartridge itself and the new BFR on the block, Magnum Research has this public statement to share:

(Pillager, MN) – Magnum Research, Inc, maker of the world renowned Desert Eagle pistol and leader in innovative firearms design and manufacturing, is proud to introduce the .500 Linebaugh BFR.

Magnum Research is pleased to bring another quality option to big bore revolver fans. The .500 Linebaugh was created in 1986 by John Linebaugh and is the largest production handgun caliber. What better pairing for Magnum Research’s ‘Biggest Finest Revolver’ than the biggest handgun caliber? While a few companies offer the .500 Linebaugh as a full custom piece, Magnum Research is the only one to offer this caliber in a production revolver. The .500 Linebaugh has a bullet diameter of .510″ as compared to only .500″ for other .50 caliber rounds, excluding the .50 BMG.

Like the press release statement reads, these BFR models will be the first ones as far as production firearms for consumers. For anyone who is fond of the .500 Linebaugh cartridge, this is great news! Magnum Research has 4 different models they will be introducing the BFR .500 Linebaugh in to start. Those 4 iterations and their associated retail prices can be read below:

    • Standard Model | 7.5″ Barrel | MSRP $1,399
    • Standard Model | 5.5″ Barrel | MSRP $1,399
    • Standard Model w/ Bisley Grips | 7.5″ Barrel | MSRP $1,482

Are there any big-bore handgun lovers in our readership who would love to take this revolver for a spin? Or do you think you could accomplish a lot of hunting and practical shooting in a much smaller cartridge of your chooosing? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
