Are you more of an Old School or Red dot Space Gun kind of person?

Ed Brown do both, and have renewed their collaboration with ZEV Technologies for 2019.

Below you can see their brand new creation THE ORION.

As to be expected, this 1911 is hand-fit with fully machined parts.

Ed Brown Products, is excited to renew our collaboration with ZEV Technologies for 2019, with the production of a new, one-year only limited edition EB/ZEV 1911. The leaders at Ed Brown Products and ZEV Technologies have once again combined and leveraged their respective strengths to create something truly extraordinary.

The perfect marriage of ZEV’s unique styling with Ed Brown’s classic quality 1911, this new collaboration builds on the success of the prior year EB/ZEV pistol, and takes it to a new level. Incredibly sophisticated slide cuts show off both ZEV’s innovative designs, and Ed Brown’s state-of-the-art custom machining ability. Just a few of the highlights include: 9mm Commander SR barrel with ZEV dimples, ZEV “Orion” slide cuts package, Alien forestrap and housing, lightrail with scallops, Trijicon RMR, match ambi, one-piece blended magwell, recessed slide stop w/ serrated pin, and G4 black coating finish out this show-stopping masterpiece of functional artistic craftsmanship.

That’s a suppressor ready barrel with ZEV dimples.

Make sure you watch the YouTube video:

Just to compare, I’m throwing in ZEV Tech’s GEN 5 Orion, equipped with a “bright star” by Surefire.

I have never owned a 1911, perhaps one day I will. If I had to chose between these two models it would be a vote for the the 1911 Orion over the Gen 5. Easily.

These creations also reminded me of The Austrian Arms Space Predator.

Which is your favorite?

"Are you more of an Old School or Red dot Space Gun kind of person?"

I got a kick out of that.

I'm an aesthetics whore and I love a good-looking gun, even if they're "space age" style. Especially in this day and age when every pistol has to have a rail under the barrel, ruining pretty much every handgun's looks. E.g., the Ruger LCP and its variants are great-looking handguns IMO.

That said, that thing is hilarious. It's obviously just a dressed-up 1911. It's like a prop master on a low-budget sci-fi show needed a "space gun" and got there by hanging a bunch of kit bits on a hundred year old 1911.
