We first saw the prototypes of this FAB Defense SKS chassis during the Arms & Hunting 2017 arms exhibition held in Moscow, Russia. These were 3D printed prototypes and back then it was unclear when they will become an actual product. Apparently, this chassis has just hit the market.

The FAB Defense SKS Chassis System is made of glass-reinforced polymer. It features an AR-15 compatible side folding and collapsible stock. There is a built-in push-button folding mechanism that allows folding the stock to the right side of the chassis and also provides a “spring based locking in folded position“. Note that the geometry of the stock is angled down which is probably done to replicate the drop of the original stock thus allowing to have a normal cheek weld with the iron sights. The chassis comes with one of the three FAB Defense stock options: standard GL-Core stock, a GL-Core stock with a shock absorbing mechanism or UAS non-adjustable stock.

As you can see, there is a Picatinny rail section built into the top of the upper handguard and another rail is integrated into the very front portion of the forearm. Additionally, you can attach short rail sections on the left and right sides of the handguard as shown in the images of this article. Other features of this SKS chassis include the integrated magazine release lever, ergonomic pistol grip and five QD sling swivel sockets located on different parts of the chassis. Depending on the stock choice, the overall weight of the chassis will vary from 1,160 grams (2 lbs 9 oz) to 1,360 grams (2 lbs 16 oz). This FAB Defense product is available in black, OD green or desert tan color options.

All an SKS needs is a Williams aperture sight and a shit-ton of stripper clips.

A lone cry was heard across the sweeping steppe as the seething Slav, Ivan Chesnokov, stroked out at what has become of glorious rifle of Sergei Simonov.

    RIP.
