As we initially reported in January of this year, Palmetto State Armory is working on a 9mm AK pistol that was initially shown using MP5 magazines. Yesterday on AR15.com, PSA showed some initial prototypes outfitted with 3D printed parts, a folding SB Tactical Brace and a prototype PSA magazine. In the posting, a company representative states that the 9mm AK will be in production in August or September and will utilize translucent CZ Scorpion magazines. It will also feature a blowback action and a 9mm standard thread pitch of 1/2×36.
These first two photos are of the prototype for our 9mm AK, that will be released in late August/early September. It has a side-folding brace, and takes CZ Scorpion Mags. From AR15.com
In the same forum post, PSA showed off a rifle version of their 9mm AK. The prototype is etched with ‘DO NOT FIRE’ markings since it includes non-functional 3D parts. An MSRP has not been announced, however PSA is stating that the PSAK-9 will be priced “very competitively”.
The available option field of 9mm AK variants in the US market is fairlysmall, with the Chiappa PAK-9, the Draco NAK-9 and (possibly) the Kalashnikov USA KR-9.
The history of Palmetto State Armory is simple, veteran Jamin McCallum returned from deployment with the same passion and demand for excellence that was instilled in him through the military. As an avid gun lover and business man, he soon noticed that there did not seem to be a customer friendly company available for the everyday gun enthusiast. With the help of a few family members and friends Palmetto State Armory was created to meet those needs. Starting as just an ammunition and magazine website, PSA has grown into a full service company represented by the website, multiple retail locations, and its own personalized firearms brand. With a dedication to quality and customer service, Palmetto State Armory has their sights set on continued excellence and growth.
