Not long ago, MEAN LLC, introduced a California Compliant Magazine Loader for the AR-15; The 10-round bullet loading device allows California gunners to reload a fixed magazine without the need to break down the firearm. The Firearm Blog featured it last year and you can read more here – Yesterday, Mean Arms announced the release of a similar product for the AR-10, the MA10-Loader. Combining either of these loaders with the MA-Lock allows Cali folks yet another solution to the ever changing gun laws and the parameters thereof.

MA Loader for AR-10 – MSRP $59.99

Our new MA10-Loader is a California compliant, 10-round bullet loading device that will allow you to safely and efficiently reload your fixed magazine without the need to break down the firearm. Simply place the MA-Loader into your AR-10’s ejector port and press the thumb-ring slider to quickly load or reload. It is that simple!** Our MA Loader for the AR-10 is designed to function with most AR-10 style rifles including: DPMS LR-308 and GII versions. We have used all of our experience and knowledge gained from designing and manufacturing the MA Loader for the AR-15. The World’s first patent pending ejection port loading device.

The best part is, using an MA10-Loader with a fixed magazine (we also offer our MA-Lock to turn your existing bullet button into a fixed mag rifle) eliminates the requirement of registering your rifle with the State of California. If moving out of the state of California is not in your plans, lawful gun owners can still enjoy the use of their AR-10s with minimal disruptions while fully complying with the new laws.

An unintended consequence of the new intrusive California laws is safety. Now with absolutely no ability to load an unloaded AR-15 for home defense within a reasonable amount of time, gun owners will inevitably choose to keep them loaded at all times. This could potentially put the people we are committed to defend at risk. The use of a MA-Loader prevents this problem and is the safest solution for all AR-10 owners anywhere. Once installed, it renders the weapon totally inoperable. Simply keep your AR-10 unloaded with an MA-Loader close by. One push and you are loaded & ready.

Multiple states continue to trample on the rights of law abiding citizens. Use a MEAN Engineered MA-Loader to best use your weapons as intended.

MA Lock – MSRP $19.99

Our new MEAN MA-Lock is a shear bolt mechanism designed to lock MIL-SPEC AR-15 and AR-10 magazines in place. Developed for states with intrusive laws requiring fixed magazines, installing the MA-Lock makes AR rifles legal and compliant, leaving all your favorite tactical features in place. Installation of the MA-Lock provides a true solution to fixed magazine laws, thus eliminating the requirement to register your rifle with your local government.

MA Lock allows firearm to conform to California law when used to mount a 10 round magazine permanently. MLock replaces the spring and magazine release push button. The operator removes the magazine push button and spring to replace with MA Lock. Operator installs the bushing then threads the hex shape onto the magazine catch in place of the button. The hex shape is then tightened until the head shears off to permanently mount the magazine catch.

An unintended consequence of the new intrusive fixed-magazine laws is possible compromised safety. With no ability to quickly load an unloaded AR rifle for home defense, gun owners may inevitably choose to keep them loaded at all times. This action potentially puts the people we are committed to defend at risk. The use of a MEAN MA-Loader solves this problem and is considered by some as the safest solution for all AR rifle owners. Simply keep your AR rifle unloaded with an MA-Loader close by. One quick motion and you are loaded and ready. Please view our MA-Loader videos for more details.

I dont get why the company suggests keeping the gun unloaded.
I keep mine loaded with the chamber empty.
Cannot go off in that state.
One tug on the charging and I am ready to go
I would then use this device for a quick reload
Moving targets are hard to hit, and 10 rounds may not be enough.

@iksnilol The California-legal AR-10's side-loading magazine replicates the feel of WW1-to-WW2-era sub-machine guns like the Bergmann MP1918 and Sten.
In modern era combat, the sideways magazine is too unwieldy in tight quarters since it's mounted high up the center-of-mass and pokes against the shooter's body when slung.

At this point.... just use a SKS.

@iksnilol The old SKS with its clip-feed system is legal for California but the upgraded version with the detachable AK magazine is banned under the law.
