Every year there seems to be a new industry or consumer favorite color. A few years ago, it seemed like it was olive drab green (OD Green). Last year, flat dark earth (FDE) was the buzz color of choice. For 2017, the trend appears to be “battleworn” finishes. Sig Sauer recently debuted one of their own battleworn finished firearms with a “We The People” 1911 model.
This extremely patriotic and unique pistol received lots of adulation from TFB’s own Frank K. Well, Frank was not the only one to think this was a great design. After receiving significant positive feedback, Sig Sauer now has applied their “We The People” battleworn finish to their staple model P938 9mm and P238 .380 ACP.
As you can see, both the P938 and P238 stay very true to form in regards to functionality, dimensions, weight, and other features. The obvious change and curb appeal is the distressed (battleworn) finish on the slide paired with an attractive black hard-coat anodized frame finish. The MSRP of the P238 is benchmarked at $728 while the P938 is going to retail for $772.
Sig Sauer released a YouTube video fully expanding on the details of their “We The People” 1911 model, but have not done so for the P938 and P238 yet. In reality, they may never release one because the finish and features so closely overlap.
