Shout-out for Excellent Customer Service – Caspian Arms

I know this is a sad statement to make, but the firearms industry is not known for its above and beyond customer service. Yes, there are companies that are good, some excellent, but few who truly go above and beyond. Caspian Arms, in my book, just did.

While Brownell’s was stocking parts, I called Caspian two weeks ago to see if I could get a custom slide. With courteous on the phone help, they explained their normal lead times were 6-8 weeks (quite fair for custom work in my book). Walt recommended a few things in-stock at their shop and I agreed to call back the next day after compiling a parts list.

When I called back, I respectfully declined their stock items and purchased all my supplies through Brownell’s. Before I hung up, Walt asked what my dream gun was and I explained the full configuration (which was quite a few items, including custom serrations, sight configuration, etc). He said he “would do what he could do” which I took to mean “likely not”.

Received a call on Monday. Caspian had machined the slide off of only a “back of the paper” order/request with no payment information or guarantee, knowing only that my class was next week. When they called, they even apologized as they knew I already purchased a slide.

Elated, I immediately paid and the slide arrived today. In my book of high standards, that is above-and-beyond service, especially from a custom shop.

*To my knowledge, they had no idea of my affiliation here at TFB. Caspian simply did it too meet a customers last-minute request. I paid full price (gladly) for the slide.

I visited the shop about 6 years ago on a trip up northeast. We had a cup of coffee, toured the shop, and talked guns for a few hours. They're a great group of people.

Caspian is outstanding. I have the first Damasteel slides in Alaska. Still own the pistol! Definitely cool!
