Sig Sauer Lends their “We The People” Styling to the P238 & P938

We The People

Every year there seems to be a new industry or consumer favorite color. A few years ago, it seemed like it was olive drab green (OD Green). Last year, flat dark earth (FDE) was the buzz color of choice. For 2017, the trend appears to be “battleworn” finishes. Sig Sauer recently debuted one of their own battleworn finished firearms with a “We The People” 1911 model.

This extremely patriotic and unique pistol received lots of adulation from TFB’s own Frank K. Well, Frank was not the only one to think this was a great design. After receiving significant positive feedback, Sig Sauer now has applied their “We The People” battleworn finish to their staple model P938 9mm and P238 .380 ACP.

As you can see, both the P938 and P238 stay very true to form in regards to functionality, dimensions, weight, and other features. The obvious change and curb appeal is the distressed (battleworn) finish on the slide paired with an attractive black hard-coat anodized frame finish. The MSRP of the P238 is benchmarked at $728 while the P938 is going to retail for $772.

Sig Sauer released a YouTube video fully expanding on the details of their “We The People” 1911 model, but have not done so for the P938 and P238 yet. In reality, they may never release one because the finish and features so closely overlap.

The outdoors, fitness and anything related to firearms are my passions. I am a S&W Armorer, Glock Armorer, reloader and am coping with an addiction to classic S&W and Colt revolvers (by buying more revolvers). I’ve been a guest writer for Sierra Bullets and love long walks to the gun range.

I prefer my LC9S over the P938 for accuracy and recoil, but the aesthetics are much better on the P938 and especially so with this variant. Would make for a good BBQ gun, but the price is a little too high for my preference. I’ll stick to my 1911/revolver for a BBQ gun for now.

SIGs get more and more tacky every year.

    • El Duderino

      You spelled “Hi-Point” wrong.

I don’t mind…it’s still a high quality gun. An LGS near me has a 938 Cerakoted in lime green with white plastic grips. I kind of like it, though as a carry gun I’m conflicted…if you have a wardrobe malfunction it’s pretty easy to spot. From space.

It makes the Hi-Point hundred dollar bill hydrodip look classy.

  • 2wheels

It’s lame. I can’t stand Sigs desire to offer up all these tacky or cringe worthy designs, it’s made me lose a lot of respect for them.

    • Hinermad

The gun designs are all right, but some of the color schemes are… unique.

I still wish I could have afforded the rainbow slide P238.

Then they should have made AR15 with that finish and call it All-American
…Or make that 12.7mm Sig handgun that everyone brings to Casinos as CCW

You know, I actually prefer this over their summer “BBQ” line a couple years
back. Or was that Kimber? I don’t know, I always get these latte gun lines
    mixed up.

Nothing says FREEDOM and America like the stonewashed made in China knife look. I would totally rather have the electric purple , pearl handle and chrome look. Pimpin aint easy https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/281527bfa6d574c44916f21b9d797b41fc6005ae43d1ac144ce945725c3a0279.jpg

Dude, I agree with you, but you made a quintuple post!

I saw hahahaha. There was some kind of maintenance going on when I posted. All of the other posts have been terminated with extreme prejudice.

Too bad Eddie Little had to leave us; he wrote about and apparently used a Mustang or Pony (Colt names are bonkers). And to see Chopper Reid and the junkie-lit guy Oprah made a big thing about outed as poseurs.

  • Kelly Jackson

These are awful and Sig should feel awful

  • TheUnspoken

I am a fan of America and being patriotic and such, but don’t really see a need to put stars, stripes, the second amendment, flags, “don’t tread on me”, John Wayne, Elvis, Chuck Norris, or gangsters on my pistol. Nor do I like rainbow Sigs, dragon sword Sigs, or purple sparkle Eaa guns.

I do like both plastic, er, polymer framed pistols, black or OD works, but a classic blue or stainless steel gun with wood grips is pretty appealing as well for me. I guess I am not the market for these. But… Options!

  • Docduracoat

    I love my Sig 938!
They come in a bewildering variety of different cosmetic finishes
That is why America is great! Choice!
If you don’t like the distressed, or the purple , or the rainbow, then buy the black one called the “nightmare”
Or the rounded edges one called sas
I recommend you buy one as they are rugged, reliable and accurate
Did I say the trigger is a typical great single action trigger?
The best part is that it not a GLOCK!

  • Harry’s Holsters

I need to get two of each and then I can wear one caliber at a time in boot holsters! I don’t care for the look but for that application they’d actually look right!

  • Mike

Sig, please leave these adornments to the ZIPPO lighters at the county fair.

  • LazyReader

SIG is the immigrant we want in America, you patriotic bastards

  • will ford

SIG needs to make a trigger improvement for the 938, Instead of all the fancy stuff. It took me forever to get mine smooth. Still working on the daughters.
