Jerry Miculek Examines the Pump Action AK (KSZ-223) in Russia

Jerry Miculek, the legend of rapid firing, is in Russia taking part in the practical shooting Rifle World Championship. In the video released by Kalashnikov Concern, Jerry tries the new pump action AK (KSZ-223) and looks like he likes the gun.

There is also some footage of Jerry shooting his AR-15 rifle which is in a very interesting configuration. The gun has a bipod with its fairly long legs extended. This setup may look awkward at least to someone like me with no competition shooting experience. However, it is possibly handy when you have to quickly transition to the kneeling position. Let’s watch that video:

The facility Mr. Miculek talks about is the newly built “Kalashnikov” shooting club. That club is in its turn situated in the Russian “Patriot Park” in Kubinka (a town located about 45 miles to the southwest of Moscow). You can read about the Patriot Park by clicking here.

Earlier Kalashnikov Concern also released a short video showing the opening ceremony of the championship, where Jerry Miculek was seen with the US team.

I wonder how would it look like if Jerry Miculek tried to rapid fire the KSZ-223? I think it would be like an average shooter rapid firing a semi-auto rifle.

Please, please, tell me there’s a video of Jerry Miculek and Vitaly Kryuchin duelling/duetting in a range…

    • Hrachya H

Jerry Miculek could do the “Flight of Bumblebee” …LOL

  • Nandor

It’s too bad these can’t reach states like CA/NY.

    • Just move to some normal state then 🙂

    • Maxpwr

They’ll eventually ban them anyway. If there’s no constitutional right to own a semi-auto then there’s no constitutional right to own a pump gun. Just a couple of crimes with a pump action and they’ll be banned. Embrace the suck.

      • Oregon213

        What?

        • Maxpwr

I said they will eventually ban them anyway.

  • uncle bobedy

Collusion, collusion, we need senate hearing, congress must investigate, Jerry Miculek met with the, “RUSSIANS” dun dun DUNNNNNNNN

hehe my little joke. I hope that after a lifetime of shooting I can one day be one quarter the shooter Mr. Miculek is.

    • Bierstadt54

A quarter of Jerry Miculek is a worthy ambition. Most times I see athletes competing I just see people doing what I know I could train myself to do, but better. Sometimes much better. 🙂 But Miculek is one of a very few people who just seem to be superhuman, who can do things and I can’t even figure out how they could do it. And he’s an old guy too!!!

    • Sermon 7.62

I heard he was 52-nd in the competition

  • Brett baker

Maybe one day these will be importable. Interesting what their cost would be compared to a Troy pump ar.

    • Taylor Hardin

If you want one go buy a Romanian PAR. Its the same thing that came out 20 years ago.

      • 8166PC1

They aren’t imported anymore I believe so they are hard to find.

        • Taylor Hardin

This is true but no one wanted them then, no one wants them now.

  • micmac80

Jerry finished in 25th place which is great for a senior shooter but there is a huge gap to the leading pack of Finns. More impresive was Lena Miculek with 20th overall

‘world’ titles for wins and titles won at national level events is somewhat of a US specialty.

    • m-dasher

well considering there were nearly 400 shooters…..ide say 25the is pretty damn good for ANY shooter…

    • Sermon 7.62

Is there a list or something?

  • fdsb

Why pump action AK? Are some rare legislation in Russia concerning semi rifles? Tens AK dissasembly constest
makes think me not, but………what says the Russian lesgislations?

    • Tassiebush

I think it’s made as a special production run for the Russian team for a specific class of the competition.

    • Audie Bakerson

When these were first announced most people concluded they were for manual divisions. Using this as a basis for a pump+semi AK shotgun (ala SPAS-12) seems like it would be actually useful.

      • mechamaster

Yes, it’s fun concept especially for low-powered ammunition like the birdshot.

    • mechamaster

Maybe for restricted international market who ban semi-auto rifle and for “sports-purpose only” firearm law who still enable manually cycled firearms.

      • iksnilol

Or for, y’know, Manual Division where autoloaders aren’t allowed anywhere.

    • Bradley

It’s for the manually operated division of the competition.

  • SP mclaughlin

That bipod outdoes the one Patrick used in his SIG MCX video.

  • UWOTM8

*is handed pump action centerfire rifle”
“Eheheh heyooo, let’s see what this baby’ll do!”
*BRRRRRRRT* *entire 30 round mag is emptied*
    “Eheheheh Get Some”

At least that’s how I imagine this whole exchange went with Miculek…

    • mechamaster

It’s fun if the rifle is capable of slamfire.

  • Maxpwr

In Post-Soviet Russia, AK manually operates you!

  • Larry Thomas

That would work in the PRK! A pump action AR, uhh, I mean modern sporting rifle. Make sure it is painted in unicorn colors. But really a pump AR would be awesome for us that can’t have the real thing. Yeah you all can chuckle at us.

    • st381183

Troy Industries makes a pump action AR

  • carter

Gotta get one of his hats, where’d he get those from?

  • RSG

Really disappointed and curious on why Jerry decided to abanadon YouTube. It’s been over a year since he posted a video. Loved his analysis and his humor.

    • mechamaster

The Youtube is not really good source of income for gun related stuff nowadays.
