Norwegian Special Forces Commercial

Norwegian SF

Rather cool video showcasing Norwegian Special Forces. A lot of the video clips look like they came from training and public demonstrations. You will see a lot of vehicles and copious amounts of M4 use.

  • BattleshipGrey

Great footage! Nice of them to play English music, but I wouldn’t have minded Norwegian music. Are the square boats in the vid made more for rivers and fjords?

    • Nebelwerfer

The “square boats” are Skjold-class corvettes, mainly used in coastal waters.

      • BattleshipGrey

Thanks. This is the first I’ve seen them.

      • Tassiebush

I just read up with on them and they sound really impressive. Only 1m draught and they can do 110kph.

    • Bear The Grizzly

Needs less feel good hippy crap and more Burzum.

      • Tassiebush

Or something like Datarock, Computer Camp Love 😉

  • MohawkNor

No M4’s here, just HK 416N’s and Colt Diemaco C8 SFW’s.
By the way, the fellows at the end of the video, with the wolverine-patch, are not SF, they are members of the Armoured Battalion.

    • iksnilol

C8s? I’ve never heard of Norwegians using the C8.

      • ostiariusalpha

Yep, they sold them a batch.

  • Tassiebush

Just kept having Dead Snow flashbacks

  • Friend of Tibet

Badass video, but I think it is more of a propaganda video than a commercial 🙂

  • TheNotoriousIUD

We should have our next war in a nice place like Norway.

    • iksnilol

Pfft, If you saw the price of one beer in Norway you’d change your mind xD

      • TheNotoriousIUD

We can bring our own whiskey.
Nicer to sip on when its chilly out anyway.

    • Joshua

I wonder what war is like in a burned out husk of a actual city.

      • TheNotoriousIUD

Depends on whether or not all the bars have been destroyed.

      • iksnilol

Just ask any veteran from the recent Balkan wars. From what I gleaned it is chaotic and depends on luck.

        • Joshua

Would be interesting. Never fought in a true city with actual buildings…indestructible mud huts not counted.

I can see it being chaotic.

          • iksnilol

Yeah, so many more angles to get hit from. Snipers are [insert multiple expletives] according to my family who survived them.

    • squareWave

Well if they don’t quit with their immigration lunacy, we might be able to start doing wars in places like Malmö.

  • neighbourswede

    all Norweigans are abit special (;

    • I love that this comment is from neighbourswede

    • iksnilol

      Svenskejævler! 😉

  • TheNotoriousIUD

Looks like they threw money at everything but the choppers.

  • Joshua

Look at those pansies using rope. Pfft in my day we halo dropped into the lz and parachuted into the windows….

    Sarcasm FYI,

    • And using PEQ4s? What is this, desert storm? Not nearly opr8r enough.

    • G0rdon_Fr33man

They did do parachute jumps onto oil rigs back in the days. Now it is deemed too dangerous.

    • Fruitbat44

      You had parachutes! Bloomin’ luxury!
      (Python reference.)

  • iksnilol

    Those aren’t M4s they’re HK416s.

I mean, did you really expect Norway to use something as cheap as an M4?

  • USMC03Vet

My condolences to all those hours lost hurrying up and waiting for dog and pony shows.

  • Mc Cain

When was the last time that Norway was involved in a major war?

    World War II

And if I’m not mistaken, Nazi Germany conquered Norway.

    • Jeff S

Not sure if serious… Norway provided troops and aircraft to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
When was the last time any nation was involved in a “major war?”

      • Mc Cain

Point is: I do not think Norway is a good frame of reference. You disagree? Facts. Put them up.

        • Jeff S

Frame of reference? For what? What major wars since WWII are you referring to? Vietnam? Why would Norway fight in that? What other large conflicts have there been?
Norway participated in ISAF operations in Afghanistan. They provided fighter aircraft, special forces, conventional troops and medical personnel. For a country of five million people and no connection to the fight other than NATO alliances I’m not sure what else you’re expecting? Do you have an facts showing the Norwegian ISAF contingent to be ineffective or even inferior during their time in Afghanistan?
          What exactly is your point?

          • Sarig

Norwegian special forces were at the forefront in the Kosovo War in 1999, Norway has supplied forces for a silly amount of UN security operations, given the country’s size, supplied a large part of the airfleet that bombed Libya a few years ago, was in Afghanistan for a decade as part of ISAF, has frigates positioned east of Africa, to protect civilians.

Norway’s defence force is small, and specialised. There’s a reason Scandinavian ships are special forces are often invited to US war games. It’s because the tech and skills they bring absolutely kick ass. And that’s exactly what this video is about. It’s not about fielding millions to occupy a country, it’s about specialised skills.

          • Mc Cain

            Whatever you say, Skippy.

          • Grindstone50k

            Now you’re just trolling.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

Did you have a point at all?

  • Grindstone50k

Now I want to play more Rainbow 6 Siege…

    • Uniform223

Just play the original Rainbow 6… boggles the mind how things have changed.

I’m not just talking about graphics here.

  • Steveweiser

The Russians would roll them back in 3 days.

    • squareWave

Just like they did to the Finns right?

  • datimes

The Norwegian people will need these guys when the muzzies make their move.
