Shout-out for Excellent Customer Service – Caspian Arms

slides-1

I know this is a sad statement to make, but the firearms industry is not known for its above and beyond customer service. Yes, there are companies that are good, some excellent, but few who truly go above and beyond. Caspian Arms, in my book, just did.

While Brownell’s was stocking parts, I called Caspian two weeks ago to see if I could get a custom slide. With courteous on the phone help, they explained their normal lead times were 6-8 weeks (quite fair for custom work in my book). Walt recommended a few things in-stock at their shop and I agreed to call back the next day after compiling a parts list.

When I called back, I respectfully declined their stock items and purchased all my supplies through Brownell’s. Before I hung up, Walt asked what my dream gun was and I explained the full configuration (which was quite a few items, including custom serrations, sight configuration, etc). He said he “would do what he could do” which I took to mean “likely not”.

Received a call on Monday. Caspian had machined the slide off of only a “back of the paper” order/request with no payment information or guarantee, knowing only that my class was next week. When they called, they even apologized as they knew I already purchased a slide.

Elated, I immediately paid and the slide arrived today. In my book of high standards, that is above-and-beyond service, especially from a custom shop.

*To my knowledge, they had no idea of my affiliation here at TFB. Caspian simply did it too meet a customers last-minute request. I paid full price (gladly) for the slide.

Nathan, I think you got very lucky 🙂 I’m still waiting for my custom .38 Special slide, it’s been almost 2 months since I ordered it. Not that I’m complaining, I understand how busy they are. And the quality of Caspian products is exceptional, I ordered from them many times and never had a single problem (other than cutting my fingers with those razor-sharp slide edges – yes, boys and girls, if you buy a bare Caspian slide, please make sure you properly de-horn it before you put it on your gun, otherwise there will be blood!)

  • Dracon1201

That is a damn beautiful slide. Makes me want to get one.

  • Giolli Joker

The long slide, Damasteel sample in the main photo is beyond sexy.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m not a big 1911 fan but I wouldn’t mind putting that one in my safe.

The word sexy does a disservice to that pistol. I don’t know that a word exists to describe it….

Caspian is run and staffed by good people. I never hesitate to do business directly with them.

I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you’re a writer for a well known firearms blog.

I’m also sure HK will release a semi only civilian version of the MP7 within the next year, along with affordable 5.7×28, .22mag, and .17hmr conversion kits.

      Reading is fundamental.

    • I only mentioned my first name. Considering the amount of Nathans in the world, I would be surprised if they knew it was me.

That is oddly enough the exact slide configuration I have wanted to order from them

Ball cut, serrated top strap, front and rear serrations, etc.

  • surlypat

Nice work! What spec lpi is the spacing on the serrated top please?

  • plumber576

I visited the shop about 6 years ago on a trip up northeast. We had a cup of coffee, toured the shop, and talked guns for a few hours. They’re a great group of people.

Caspar is outstanding. I have the first Damasteel slides in Alaska. Still own the pistol! Definitely cool!
