TFB REVIEW: High Desert Outdoor Research Replacement Tikka Bottom Metal

When I was a highschooler (early 2000’s), I drove a 1989 long bed extended cab ¾ ton Chevy pickup. It was brown and had a squeaky contractor rack on it.  My family purchased it new and we had it ever since. It had terrible fuel economy and was a beast to park, but I was just happy to have a vehicle to drive, and I will have to say it was reliable.  There are rifles just like that old truck on the market today – not much to look at, kind of clunky, but at least they go bang when you pull the trigger. The Tikka T3 is not one of these rifles. It has an excellent adjustable single stage trigger, a shorter bolt lift with a glassy smooth travel, and a barrel that will consistently print sub moa groups.  I would liken the Tikka T3 rifle to a Honda Civic as opposed to my old brown pickup.

Strike Industries 2017 Product Release

California-based Strike Industries has released several videos detailing new products the company is bringing to the AR15 accessories market. We previously covered the Viper PDW stock and the cold hammer forged barrels that come in 10.3 and 16 inches earlier. Apart from the stock and barrels, Strike is coming out with an enhanced trigger guards called the Cobra and Fang. These are made from billet aluminum and come in a number of colors. They don’t swing down like many Mil-Spec trigger guards with the pop of a forward plunger (originally conceived to allow access to the trigger with a winter glove/mitten). The Cobra and Fang have index points for trigger fingers, perforated slots in the bottom (possibly for drainage of debris), and most interestingly a sort of magazine guide in front. This might run into issues with different profile magazines that don’t accommodate this feature. They retail from $23.95 to $25.95 depending on finish.

POTD: Extreme Trigger Guard Undercut

Shane posted this in a Facegroup Page to show the kind of garbage that shows up in his local area. George Yanosh is trying to trade his modified Hipoint 9. He says he undercut the trigger guard. I don’t think it means what he think it means. LOL He did not undercut the trigger guard. He removed the trigger guard completely. I recall seeing someone do this to a Glock. At least the HiPoint has a manual safety but trigger guards are there for a reason. Kind of like bumpers of a car. Sure you could remove it for some semblance of increased speed but it makes it more dangerous in an accident.
