The All-New Single-Shot .410 Bore Rossi Survival Rifle – The Poly Tuffy

I’ve recently been digging pretty heavily into survival rifle coverage on my weekly Rimfire Report series. Along with 22LR, a .410 bore is often found being used in survival rifles including the new Rossi survival rifle dubbed the Poly Tuffy. This new single-shot, break-action .410-bore survival rifle features a simple and durable design that stores spare ammo, has a minimally stacked single-action trigger, and of course, breaks down for better storage.

The Rimfire Report: Italy's Chiappa Little Badger 22LR Survival Rifle

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report. TFB’s ongoing series covering rimfire firearms, history, ammunition, and sports, continues on from last week’s article covering Project Appleseed and how it has made practical marksmanship more accessible to civilians via its purposeful inclusion of commonly available 22LR semi-auto rifles like the Ruger 10/22. It seems some of you took issue with the fact that people are using simulated distance targets for rimfire, implying that proper marksmanship can’t be accomplished at those distances with those guns. However, I’d also like to point out that a considerable portion of what Project Appleseed does is serve as an education program for both adults and young children and it’s why you almost always see children involved in the pictures Project Appleseed posts on their Facebook page. While I’m all for kids learning to handle full-sized weapons, I don’t think we can realistically expect the average-sized 8-year-old to properly handle both the weight and the recoil of an M1 Garand or M1A rifle, especially from a standing position. In any case, and no matter what level of marksmanship knowledge these kids are receiving, I think it’s a net positive rather than any sort of detriment to a child’s or even an adult’s understanding of the basic principles of marksmanship. With that being said, this week’s subject is back to another review, this time featuring Italy’s Chiappa Little Badger 22LR survival rifle. Let’s get right into it.

The Rimfire Report: The Best DIY Upgrade For Your Henry AR-7

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunition, shooting sports, and history! Last week we did a direct comparison of a dedicated integrally suppressed rimfire Integra 15-22 upper and a Form 1 oil filter suppressor. In that article, we discovered that although the integrally suppressed rifle works beautifully, it has a few drawbacks, and the same goes for the oil filter suppressor. Ultimately, my pick would be the Integra 15-22 for its straightforward design and sleek, low-profile suppressor that still allows you to use red dots without a ridiculously high riser. In any case, suppressors only serve to add to the fun when it comes to rimfire guns, at least in my opinion. This week we’re digging back a bit further into the Rimfire Report archives to bring back a perhaps infamous firearm from the series. That’s right, I’ve gone and dunked my Henry AR-7 into the water again. However, this time I didn’t manage to lose one of the most crucial parts to the build (the barrel), and as a result, it almost immediately became covered in rust, as did the magazines. Not happy with the low resistance to such corrosion, I set out last week to better “weatherproof” the Henry AR-7. Today I’ll be sharing this process with you and showing you where I succeeded, and where I could probably have done a bit better with the whole process.

Chiappa X-Caliber Survival Rifle… Isn't

Since coming on-board TFB all those years ago, I’ve been pestering the editing staff to get a Chiappa X-Caliber rifle in for review. As an amateur “prepper” the concept of the gun was highly enticing, a combination of the two most popular survival calibers in one lightweight package. Considering the low cost to make the two calibers in a break-action, the MSRP of the weapon at $615 is reasonable considering import costs, etc.
