"How do I Get Employed in the Gun Industry?"

Last week, I received a DM from an IG follower asking how he could find employment in the firearm industry. This was a striking question because I’ve never thought about how I ended up working in this business (although I constantly ask myself how I am still employed), and frankly, it took a moment of reflection to provide an answer. After thinking about the advice I could give this young man to set him in the right direction, it made sense for me to put together an article discussing several ways to get into the gun business as this question comes up often enough.

SIG Releases New Air Gun Modeled After 1911 Spartan

SIG SAUER‘s Spartan models of handguns have been popular since their introduction a few years ago. While the guns are well built, I imagine most people appreciate the styling as much as anything. To match the centerfire handguns, the company is now offering an air gun based on the 1911 Spartan.

REVIEW: LaserMax Spartan Light/Laser Combo

Think back to the first time you saw a weapon-mounted laser in a movie. For me, it was Terminator, when Arnold Schwarzenegger cut through a smokey room with a red beam of death. That massive device shined dimly even at short distances and probably had a sub 10 minute battery-life. Thrity years later we have the LaserMax Spartan which is the size of a match box car, includes both a green laser and a 120 lumen LED light, all with an impressive battery life.

Press Release: Lasermax's Spartan AAA Pistol Light & Laser

Earlier this week, Lasermax has started shipping out their new Spartan laser light. It is a small pistol rail mounted light and laser that runs on a single AAA battery. The Spartan comes in either red laser or green laser. The LED is not a white led. It has a mint green tint to the light. The LED produces 120 lumens. According to Lasermax this is the most visible wavelength of light. The red laser Spartan retails for $175 while the green laser Spartan is $215. Check them out at Lasermax.com. I think the Spartan might be rather competitive against SureFire’s XC1 which is a single AAA weapon mounted light.

Iraqveteran8888 Tests Spartan's ATC AR500 Plate

Eric Blandford of Iraqveteran8888 fame on Youtube has done another test, this time of the Spartan Armor Systems ATC AR500 Plate. Spartan’s ATC is specially milled to shape to the wearer’s body without using “crease bends.” Many other companies utilize crease bends, but the process can create stress to that part of the armor and cause failures. Spartan’s ATC AR500 comes in chest, back, and side plates, and they also offer Spartan Trauma Pads to protect against blunt force trauma.

Custom Jewelry

I ran into something today I think many readers will be interested in. I was driving over to my local gun shop to pickup some ammunition and as usual listening to a conservative radio talk station. When I tuned in The topic turned to the Greek saying Molan Labe. They related how a local designer and master jeweler, who happens to be a strong 2nd amendment supporter, thought up the idea of this line of jewelry displaying the Greek Molan Labe. The jeweler, Michael Oetting, created the rings and dog tags you see here.
