Glock Prevails in Lawsuit After More Than Six Years
Glock is no stranger to a good lawsuit. For many years now, this titan of the handgun world has made repeated headlines for a smorgasbord of litigation. They’ve filed suit against others, they’ve been sued, and numerous times members (or former members) of the operation have even gone after each other. Thankfully, TFB TV’s own James “Not Disbarred Yet” Reeves has thus far avoided a lawsuit target for leaving his G17 out in the rain earlier this year. All the way back in 2014, the Austrian-based firm sued an airsoft company over unlicensed replicas. Six and a half years later, this lawsuit has finally concluded, as detailed in the following press release.
Trijicon Fires Back Re: Lawsuit Settlement with Holosun
If you’re a regular TFB reader, you will likely already be aware of the lawsuit that Trijicon filed against Holosun earlier this year. In short, the lawsuit alleged that Holosun infringed on Trijicon’s “Optical Sight” patent, #US8443541B2. You will likely also know that the suit has already been settled and that Holosun recently released a statement about it. This statement was exceedingly brief and general, and mentioned that “…terms of the settlement were not disclosed.” Now with a September 8th press release, copied below, Trijicon has issued their own decidedly brief statement on the matter. There is one interesting point in it that seems to color the resolution with a markedly different perspective.
ADS Settles with DoJ Over Alleged Small Business Contracting Shenanigans
While most of our readers are familiar with the various online supergiants, ADS, Inc. is one of the largest gear contracting companies in the country – they just focus on servicing government customers. As one of the four primary contractors in the Defense Logistics Agency Tailored Logistics Support Program (commonly known by its acronym, “TLS”), they are one of the premier suppliers to the DoD of COTS and near-COTS equipment.
EOTech's Temperature Shifting Zero Reaches Legal Conclusion – Class Action Settlement Pending
Alas, all good things (that admittedly were borne of bad things) must come to an end. L3 Corporation’s EOTech division has reached a settlement agreement with the filed class-action lawsuit, which will end EOTech’s open refund offer for its fielded holographic weapon sights manufactured from January 5th to November 1st, 2016.
STAG Arms Acquired by Investment Capital Firm
STAG Arms has been in a bit of trouble lately; legal, not financial. Simply put, they were (in my opinion) grossly negligent when it comes to the record-keeping & Handling of over 100 NFA full-auto lower receivers and over 3,000 un-serialized lowers.
Taurus USA CEO Responds To Settlement, Class-Action Suit
Taurus has released statements through Shooting Sports Retailer regarding their recent settlement of a class-action lawsuit regarding several its pistol models, all of which were susceptible to discharge when dropped. Anthony Acitelli is the CEO of Taurus USA, the US distributor for Taurus International products. From Shooting Sports Retailer:
BREAKING: Taurus Class Action Settlement Reached, Your Gun May Qualify
If you own a Taurus handgun, you will want to read this post. Recently, Iowa deputy sheriff Chris Carter brought suit against Brazilian firearms manufacturer Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. for a defect in their handguns whereby the weapons could potentially fire when dropped. Those who own Taurus handguns in the following models may be able to, if they wish, receive compensation for the weapons as part of the settlement reached between Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. and the lead plaintiff. From the lawsuit’s website:
Taurus Settles Defective Handgun Class-Action for $39 Million
In a case that almost made it through the cracks T opClassActions reports that Taurus agreed in May of this year to settle a class-action lawsuit brought over nine handgun models, including six of the PT Millennium models. In response to common practice, Taurus legally does not admit to wrong-doing, but has agreed to pay $30 million to the Class members and agreed to “enhanced lifetime wwarranty and training for the firearms.”
Smith & Wesson Settles Bribing Foreign Officials Charges
CNN reports that Smith & Wesson has settled with the US Government for charges of bribing foreign officials. The settlement is reportedly $2 million for violations from 2007 and 2010. Smith & Wesson agreed to the settlement without admitting or deny the findings of the SEC.
