Taurus has entered the single-action six-shooter fold with their Taurus Deputy in either .357 Magnum or 45 Colt. This blacked-out bad boy, inspired by the legendary Peacemaker, made its debut at the beginning of 2024 and made a good impression on yours truly. After handling it at SHOT2024 I had to get my hands on it and see how it performed under some old soul range time. Does it stand up to competing models? What sets it apart? Let’s dive right into my review of the Taurus Deputy!

Brazil and India are getting into business together—or rather, Brazilian firearms manufacturer Taurus Armas S.A. is going to collaborate with Indian manufacturer Jindal Defence Systems Pvt Limited on a new joint manufacturing project. Called JD Taurus, this new cooperative endeavor is already geared up to produce firearms in India.

Welcome to another edition of TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, where we explore the vast world of revolvers. This week, we’ll take a look at one of Booligan’s latest builds, the Taurus Ultra Snubby Handgun, or TUSH for short. If you’re not familiar with Booligan, he loves 3D printing and modifying guns; so much so that some of his projects have already shown up here on TFB. This snubby revolver started life as a Taurus 856 Ultra Light, chambered for six rounds of .38 Special, but Booligan wanted an extra short, pocketable revolver, and in the process this Ultra Light wheelgun became extra ultra lighter.

Good news for California-ites who are fans of revolvers and pistol optics, Taurus’ optics ready revolvers are now approved for sale in California. Taurus 856 T.O.R.O. and 605 T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optics Ready Option) have been added to California’s Department of Justice’s roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

Taurus has been putting much effort into broadening its options throughout the US handgun market. With great introductions like the Taurus GX4 in the micro compact category, and the earlier release of the similar TH45 chambered in 45 ACP, it’s only natural that Taurus has now made the decision to finally make their very first 10mm handgun – the TH10. This new double-action/single-action polymer frame handgun features a combination de-cocker/safety so that you can carry the handgun “cocked and locked,” or de-cocked in DA mode with the safety off.

The Taurus Judge, in my estimation, might be one of the most misunderstood, overhyped, and underrated revolvers ever made. Are they meant for shooting snakes in the South, or grouse in the sticks up North, or masked muggers in Chicago? Nobody knows. All of the above? This wheelgun can moonlight as nearly anything you want it to be, and that is why when I saw the new Taurus Judge Home Defender I chuckled thinking, “Here’s another meme version of the Judge.” Yet, the longer I ponder the efficacy of an absurdly long-barreled revolver that shoots shotgun shells I thought Taurus might be onto something. So, in this week’s edition of Wheelgun Wednesday, I am going to contemplate the question of whether or not the Taurus Judge Home Defender is actually a legit home defender, or merely a fake pretender? Let’s dive in!

The Taurus 917C used to be a popular choice for those wanting to have the high capacity and shootability of the Taurus 92 but in a much more compact package. After disappearing from the market entirely,  the 917C is making a return and is compatible with nearly every type of weapon light including some of the larger full-size models on the market.

The infamous Taurus Judge 45 LC/.410 Bore revolver has been getting a lot more interesting lately with the addition of the new long-barreled Home Defender model, and now the new optics-ready Judge TORO. The T.O.R.O (Taurus Optics Ready Option) lineup has been steadily growing to include more and more of both Taurus’ new firearms as well as their legacy firearms like the much talked about Judge revolver. Options will include stainless steel models, as well as magnum models capable of handling 3″ .410 shotshells.

Taurus is entering its own new pistol into the high-capacity micro-compact category of pistols – the GX4 Carry. Unlike the GX4 and GX4 XL before it, the new GX4 Carry features a new 15-round standard capacity magazine, new Teflon-coated operation control parts, and a new dust cover 1913 rail for mounting lights and laser.

The infamous Taurus Judge is making a return, this time with a much longer barrel to guarantee accuracy, and an integrated picatinny rail for the adoption of today’s modern reflex sights and scopes. Taurus is proud to finally introduce the new Judge Home Defender. Like previous versions of the Judge, the revolver still makes use of the 45 Colt / 410 Bore 3-inch cylinder but adds a bunch of new modern design elements and features that mark the next chapter in the Judge’s evolution.
