Russian TsKIB SOO to Make Civilian Versions of PP-2000 SMG and OSV-96 Rifle

During the  International Military-Technical Forum ARMY-2018, Russian TsKIB SOO of Tula has introduced two new civilian firearms that are based on the company’s military products. The two guns are the civilian versions of the PP-2000 SMG and the OSV-96 .50 caliber rifle. Let’s take a brief look at each of these firearms.

At the end of May, there was an event held in Russia called “Day of Advanced Technologies of Law Enforcement Authorities”. It is officially described as a scientific and technical forum and normally the entry is restricted to law-enforcement officials. During this forum/fair, many Russian companies introduce some of their newest weapon designs as well as those still in development. Usually, it is hard to get information from that event, but some information and images leaked and appeared in Russian gun forums and other online resources.

There’s a new video showing tests of Russia’s new 30 mm cannon. We might not remember it by its real name, as it’s a bit awkward: “9-A1-4071K”.  I’m sure it will get some evil nick-name in the future, especially from those on the wrong side of the barrel.

A Look Inside The PP-2000

Gun blogger and MVD agent KardeN released some rare high-definition photos of the unique Russian PP-2000 submachine gun. This lightweight select-fire weapon was designed as a concealable PDW and CQB weapon for VIP protection and special police and military units. Russian Police moving away from AK carbines and Makarov pistol.

Last month the Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant-General Mikhail Suhodolskogo, announced that Russian police (the MVD) would be moving away from the AKS-74U (5.45mm 8″ barreled sub-carbine) and the famous Makarov pistol.
