G2 Research, known for its morbidly named R.I.P. rounds (Radically Invasive Projectile) has been working steadily to expand its stable of machined projectiles. Launched to 9mm, the company expanded to rifle rounds and is now going full-circle on its first offering for the shotgun, which so far has no clever naming.
Urban Carry Releases New G2 Model To Address Problems With Original
For those of you that were lucky enough to miss the first iteration of the Urban Carry making its rounds on social media, the guy below does a pretty good job of highlighting how fast you can get a gun unholstered with the unusual design. Urban Carry seems to have addressed this with their G2 model according to a press release.

G2 Research Releases A More Traditional Round – The Civic Duty
G2 Research has announced the release of a more traditional line of defensive ammunition call “Civic Duty”. The new rounds are solid copper extreme expansion rounds designed to complete with similar offerings from Lehigh Defense.
Thompson Center Reintroduces G2 Contenders
Thompson Center, a high-end division of Smith & Wesson, has reintroduced their G2 rifle and handguns. The G2 system sets itself apart by being modular and allowing the user to change barrels, fore-ends, grips, etc. The base rifle is chambered in .30-30 and the handgun is avaialble in .22LR and .357 Magnum. Seven difference calibers are available (From 17 HMR to 30-30) on the rifle, and 11 are available for the handgun (going from 17HMR to .410/45 Colt). All components maintain interchangeability with G2s of yore.

Taurus has merged their best features from the 800, 24/7 and OSS lines into the new Taurus G2 24/7 pistol. The polymer framed double action autoloader will be available in .45 ACP, .40 S&W and 9mm (judging by Taurus’s 2010 catalog, we may not see the 9mm version for a while yet).
