Last year was a doozy. It seemed that overnight, not only were individual rights disappearing, but so were guns and ammo. Finding 9mm was and still is nearly impossible. When you do find ammo, even steel-cased FMJ is still going for 50 cents per round. We’re all aware that dry fire is a valuable tool for staying familiar with your platform, but there are also options that can give you more value with every press of the trigger. The Mantis X3 Shooting Performance System is one of those options.

I first found MantisX at the NEXT pavilion last year at SHOT, and was actually given one to play with immediately. Since then it has become a part of my dry fire training regimen.

In Part 1 of this article I discussed the premise and plan for seeing just how effective dry fire training would be using a number of products to augment the training.  In this second part I will give my observations and conclusions.  I encourage you to read the first article before continuing.

I am a huge supporter of the concept of dry fire training, and have been for quite a while. Putting it into daily practice is another thing. And I have always wondered if there is actually measurable training value in it.

One of the requests for things to check out at SHOT was to preview the NEXT area (which showcases manufacturers and vendors that haven’t been to SHOT), and I had decided to make Wednesday a day to look for cool things related to training. Based on that tip, I went by to check out some companies that all had something to offer in that realm—this highlight will be about MantisX.
