Ronnie Barrett stands among legends like John Browning, Eugene Stoner, and John Garand as one of only a handful of Americans to have their rifle adopted by the United States Military.  For over 40 years Barrett Firearms has been and continues to be, the leader in long-range.  At SHOT Show 2023, I was given the opportunity to interview the new owner of Barrett Firearms, Robert Nioa.

Geissele Automatics have announced the acquisition of the technical data packages and intellectual property for the 240LW and 240LWS lightweight general purpose machine guns developed by Barrett Firearms Mfg. Geissele announced the news on their social media earlier today, saying they look forward to “adding our forged long life barrels and Nanoweapon coating to provide the U.S. warfighter and our allies a machine gun for the 21st century.”

PROOF Research announced today that they’ll be providing barrels to the DoD’s extended long range sniper program.  These new Barrett MRAD rifles are chambered in Hornady’s new 300 PRC round (that I recently had a chance to try in a different rifle).  Here’s what PROOF Research had to say in today’s press release.  

The US Department of Defense has confirmed the procurement of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing’s MRAD precision rifle chambered in .300 PRC from Hornady.

Back in December 2017 we reported that Barrett would be launching their new 7.62x51mm REC10 rifle, now in 2019 it’s finally here. Barrett have confirmed that the REC10 will be introduced at SHOT Show 2019.

Today we’re taking a look at the Barrett that never was, the XM109 AMPR.  

While Barrett Firearms Manufacturing is best known for their .50 BMG anti-materiel rifles they also produce a series of AR-based designs, the REC7, offering both piston and direct gas impingement systems. While the REC7 is chambered in 5.56×45 or 6.8 SPC, Barrett has unveiled the new REC10 which chambers larger rounds including 7.62x51mm, .260 Remington, and 6.5 Creedmoor.
