The FK Brno family of handguns is now a little bigger with the introduction of two new models at SHOT Show 2023 – the PSD-C and PSD-SL.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at IWA 2022 visiting FK BRNO to see their newest pistol, the FK BRNO PSD-C. The PSD-C is the compact version of the powerful FK BRNO PSD, which was itself a polymer-framed version of the groundbreaking FK BRNO Field Pistol. This pistol is chambered in either the potent 7.5mm FK cartridge or the 10mm Auto round.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves puts the new FK BRNO PSD through the paces with a 1,000 round mini-torture test using every weight of 7.5mm FK (at $1.50 a round) plus some 10mm rounds for good measure. The FK BRNO PSD is, essentially, a polymer-framed variant of the FK BRNO Field Pistol – a Czech-made, oversized CZ-75 that shoots the 7.5mm FK round. The 7.5FK pushes a 100gr bullet (think .380 ACP size round) at 2,000 feet per second (twice as fast as most .45ACP). This means it generates .44 Magnum levels of power in a package that’s ALMOST concealable (if you’re brave enough, that is). How’d it do in this mini-torture test?

Shooting the 7.5 FK Field Pistol has been a goal of mine since I learned about the platform.  Unfortunately,   this power handgun is a rare specimen in the wild.  At SHOT this year, FK BRNO was kind enough to give us ample trigger time both pre-range day and on Industry Day at the Range as well.  While TFB’s Pete has written up a great review of the gun, Andrew has thoroughly tested the ammunition and James has had his own musings, this was the first I had seen the pistols be shot a lot by a lot of people.

It is rare event that we here at TFB are given the opportunity to handle and shoot unique luxury firearms. As a regular reader of our news articles and reviews, I can understand how someone can get tired of all the polymer pistols, AR15 rifles and vanilla new product announcements. Today I present you with something a little different. The FK BRNO Field Pistol chambered in 7.5 FK is a one-of-a-kind weapon developed in part to engage targets at ranges normally reserved for carbines and rifles while retaining enough energy to drop medium sized game. As with everything in life, there is a balance between performance and functionality – I’ll do my best to give you an unfiltered look at the capabilities of this uncommon handgun and its ammunition.

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these Modern PDW Calibers installments, but we’re back, and today we’re looking at a very new round on the market, one that is currently making some pretty big waves in the pistol world. I am talking of course about the 7.5x27mm FK Brno, designed for the CZ-75-derived FK Field Pistol from the company that shares its name. A high velocity .30 cal pistol round is not a new idea, having predecessors in the .300 JAWS, 7.62×25 Tokarev, and others, but what makes the 7.5 FK so interesting is just how powerful it is: A 103 grain monolithic bullet is advertised as leaving the 6″ Field Pistol barrel at an incredible 2,000 ft/s! This means that, if the company’s performance claims are true, the FK Field Pistol is ballistically the equal of the old WWII-era M1 Carbine!

Recently shown off at the IWA tradeshow over in Germany, BRNO Defense has introduced their 7.5 FK BRNE Combat Field Pistol. Built around a proprietary caliber, the handgun is designed for military, law enforcement, and government personnel.
