Parker Mountain Machine Ultra Compensator For The 10mm FN 510
Parker Mountain Machine, delving into the finer aspects of component development to manufacture useful solutions for some of our favorite firearm platforms, is at it again, this time with the PMM Ultra Compensator for the FN 510. Let’s take a closer look at how this new compensator is taking the sting out of the 10mm cartridge that had a particular three-letter agency crying the recoil blues.
Construction & Fitting
The PMM Ultra Compensator, constructed of 7075 aluminum and available in black and FDE, is designed to work with the factory threaded barrel (.578”x28) on the FN 510, adding approximately 1.55” to the handgun’s overall length. It is mounted via the use of an included shim kit, similar to the process of timing a muzzle device on a rifle.
Factory Testing
Throughout the evaluation phase for the Ultra Compensator, Parker Mountain Machine tested multiple brands and weights of 10mm ammunition to determine functionality and performance gain. The results look to be impressive.
The three categories of ammunition tested were as follows:
- Less expensive range ammunition
- More traditional 10mm
- Heavy loads pushing the power envelope
As seen in the chart below, the PMM Ultra Compensator, using Winchester 10mm 180gr range ammunition with pressures similar to that of .40 S&W, demonstrated a reduction in muzzle climb to the tune of 56%.
Calling upon more traditional high-pressure 10mm loads, the PMM Ultra Compensator yielded performance results on an average of a 62% reduction in muzzle climb. While the 10mm cartridge remains formidable in the hand, it is interesting to note that PMM claims this level of reduction makes the sights track similar to that of a 9mm, speeding up split times and aiding in defensive and hunting applications.
Results with heavier loads, such as Buffalo Bore and Underwood, were inconclusive as the Ransom Rest used during the testing maxed out at approximately 82-degrees of climb, unable to provide a reading exceeding that. Nonetheless, the same Buffalo Bore ammunition fired with the PMM Ultra Compensator did show a reduction to the 40-degree range, boasting a substantial improvement.
With the resurgence of 10mm over the last few years, it was only a matter of time before FN threw its hat in the ring. Our very own James Reeves called this striker-fired suppressor and optic-ready 10mm the best FN 5-Series handgun made thus far, with its improved trigger, slimmed-down ergonomics, accuracy, and bountiful capacity. Parker Mountain Machine is taking it one step further, squeezing every ounce of performance and shootability out of the FN 510.
The PMM Ultra Compensator for the FN 510 is available now at a retail price of $150. Let us know what you think in the comments below and if you’re a fan of 10mm. What you think of a compensated setup like this, and under what circumstances you might carry this hard-hitter.

I've got their 9mm Glock comp and it's been great. I like their attachment method compared to other ways like the Roland Special style method of using set screws.
Radian stepped up when they released their Ramjet + Afterburner combo with their attachment method.
