The Ruger LC9 did not strike me as particularly exciting. I am sure it works, but it does not offer anything not already on the market.
The Mossberg Chainsaw may look gimmicky, and shooting from the hip is not a good way to utilize your pump-action, but it works surprisingly well.
The ADCOR Defense BEAR (Brown Enhanced Automatic Rifle) is a very nifty new piston-operated AR-15 carbine. The piston is permanently attached to the bolt carrier (think AK-47) and it travels through a machined boss in the upper receiver, which prevents the problem of [Read More…]
Along with the Stg.44, ATI plan on importing a clone of the famous German MP 40 Maschinenpistole chambered in .22 LR. It is a very nifty gun. One problem with importing a replica of the MP 40 is that it has a very long tubular receiver and a short barrel. The gun [Read More…]
Next year (2012) American Tactical Imports will be selling a .22 rifle patterned after the Sturmgewehr 44. The gun on display was just a prototype but it felt and looked great. The gun will be manufactured by GSG (who make the MP5 .22 clones) and imported into the USA [Read More…]
Sage have developed a very cool 37mm semi-auto magazine-fed grenade launcher (although 37mm rounds are only manufactured with less-lethal payloads). It is surprisingly compact. This is in part because it ejects upwards and has a rebated rim (the rim is much smaller than [Read More…]
I first blogged about the 40mm Deuce grenade launcher late last year. I was able to handle it at Sage’s SHOT boot and was quite impressed with it. The weight and height is not much more than a single barrel launcher and the width is, of course, the same. According [Read More…]
Larry Zanoff, of Independent Studio Services, has been the armorer for many movies. He built the iconic suppressed shotgun used in No Country For Old Men. This photo was taken by Gregory Markle at the NRA Booth at SHOT Show.
PCP Ammunition will be selling a line of polymer cased ammunition in early 2011. They claim to have fixed the issues that have plagued polymer ammo in the past (case head separation, melting in the chamber). They are offering it in 5.56 NATO, 6.8 SPC, 7.62mm NATO, .338 [Read More…]
The below photo is of the upcoming ultra-light suppressor from Yankee Hill Machine. The Titanium Phantom weighs just 12 ounces. The MSRP is $998! The below photos show two other YHM products … [ Many thanks to Gred for emailing me the info. ]
Only a real man can admit that he likes a pink gun. I am a real man, but I don’t admit anything.
Photos of outrageously heavy guns for your enjoyment …
It looks like a Mac-10 but is in fact a high powered handheld laser from a company called XADS (Extereme Alternate Defense Systems). It has a max daylight range of 1km and a night range of 2.5 km. The battery lasts 30 minutes. The laser is a 2.5 (min) – 3 watt [Read More…]
The Taurus Carbine CT G2 is a very nifty carbine that will be introduced into the US market this year. It is built from polymer lower (with build in magwell handguard) and aluminum lower. It has a 16″ barrel and is chambered in 9mm (34+1 capacity), .40 S&W [Read More…]
S&W has introduced a .410 chambered revolver with a light scandium frame called “The Governor” (urrgghhh … a governor is more important than a judge, right?) . The Taurus Judge has been selling so well I am surprised it took so long for another company to copy [Read More…]
I have not yet made it to the Mossberg booth at SHOT, but fellow blogger MJM did. Coming to a zombie movie near you! MJM has a great photo of it over at his blog. I will be sure to check it out tomorrow.
Just as S&W jumps into the .410 shotshell revolver market, Taurus counters with a 28 Gauge monster. The question remains: how big will they do?
The new Walther PPQ has finally been unveiled. The pistol is striker fired and features a new trigger system with a claimed crisp 5.5 lbs trigger. It will be available in .40 S&W and 9mm Parabellum.
The Sphinx pistols look great and feel great. They shoot with a guaranteed accuracy of 2″ at 25 yards. More on them tomorrow. I have been up since 6am and my laptop battery is about to die on me. Lots more photos tomorrow. [ Many thanks to Byan Jones for the [Read More…]
You either love it, or you hate it. The HK45.
The day many thought would never arrive has finally materialized out of thin air! This week H&K finally started shipping the civilian version of the HK416 rifle. I shot it today for the first time and was impressed. It works as advertised. Easy to control and jumps [Read More…]
Because y’all like photos, here are some random photos …
The Ruger GunSite Scount rifle was very nice to shoot. I love the Scout Concept and this is a Scout done well and relatively cheaply. If you decide you don’t like the scout-scope, standard Ruger rings attached to the normal palce.
I had the opportunity to try Surefire’s new 60 round and 100 round double stacked AR-15 magazines. The 100 is big and heavy (move over Saiga-12) but the 60 is not much longer than a standard 30 round magazine and the weight is not so bad. This is going to be a [Read More…]
Today Media Day, media shooting day held a day before the actual show, car dove in front of the live firing line. WTF? I was shooting a 9mm carbine at the time. Other guns shooting at part of the range included .338 Lapua’s, and 7.62mm NATO machine guns!!!!!! EPIC [Read More…]
This novel magazine design uses a series of magnets instead of a metal spring to apply upwards pressure to the magazine follower. A controversial topic in the gun world is whether or not the spring of a loaded magazine will become weaker over time if left loaded for [Read More…]
