We’re back at the Palmetto State Armory booth to check out PSA’s new Modular Shotgun Concept – the PSA 570. The PSA 570 is a BYO (Build Your Own) shotgun concept that can be assembled with commonly available hand tools and also is compatible with already existing Remington 870 pump action shotgun parts. Once released, PSA will be offering both complete shotguns in a wide variety of configurations, as well as standalone receivers and likely even receiver sets for the DIY crowd who wants to build their own shotgun.

Oh, snap it’s another Hop and Crazy Kirk crossover episode! New for 2024, Aero Precision is expanding their PRO Series to include a fully ambidextrous lower receiver and a redesigned handguard. The new M4E1 PRO lower is a further enhancement to the already enhanced M4E1 with mirrored magazine release and bolt release controls. The MOD4 handguard is a bit heavier and a bit stiffer than Aero’s own Atlas and is designed to reduce flex for use with laser aiming modules.

James is at LMT to talk about their .300 BLK PDW – an ultra-compact, lightweight AR-type rifle built from the LMT MRP platform. Check the video for more details.

James Reeves is at Battle Arms Development to see the new more-economically-priced $799 MSRP Workhorse LT. According to BAD’s press release:

Palmetto State Armory came out swinging this year at SHOT Show with a ton of prototype and concept guns. Hop stopped by to take a look at the most talked about concept so far: the X5.7 PDW. The X5.7 is chambered in 5.7x28mm like PSA’s own Rock pistol and uses the same magazines. Some aspects of the X5.7 PDW are still being refined, but it will have a spring-loaded pistol brace, and take standard AR charging handles.

James Reeves is at Lipsey’s booth talking with Jason about new Smith & Wesson Ultimate Carry revolvers in .38 Special and .32 H&R Magnum. These feature upgraded triggers, improved Novak sights, G10 grips, and more, plus the price is incredibly reasonable. Check the video for details.

Luke C (@ballisticaviation​⁠​⁠ ) is at Industry Day at the Range with CZ to talk about the Scorpion Evo 3 S1 chambered in 22 Long Rifle. The Scorpion Evo 3 S1 was announced first over in Europe and is finally making its long-awaited appearance in the US market. The Evo 3 S1 22LR is a near 1:1 copy of the 9mm Scorpion Evo 3 with the same foldable and collapsible stock, M-LOK handguard, and overall size, simply just chambered for the much more economical and lighter recoiling 22LR cartridge.

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop checks in with Mike from H&R and NoDakSpud to take a look at the new 633 style 9mm “DOE” AR. H&R has been expanding its lineup of retro and “clone correct” AR builds for the last few years to include 9mm ARs using the Colt stick magazine pattern. The H&R DOE 9mm will be a mostly faithful reproduction with a few subtle tweaks to make it more appealing to shooters.

The Zastava M72 is coming to the US! The M72 an LMG developed and manufactured by Zastava Arms in Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia). It is a variant of the Kalashnikov and is similar in many aspects to the Soviet/Russian RPK.

Palmetto State Armory brought a ton of prototype projects to SHOT Show this year, and @Hoplopfheil dropped by to check out the new versions of the JAKL. The three new JAKL prototypes are a bullpup conversion lower, a large frame .308 variant, and a JAKL/AK hybrid. PSA is relying on customer feedback to decide which projects to focus on, so cast your votes in the comments.

In this highly clandestine episode of TFBTV, @Hoplopfheil met up with Kirk from Aero Precision to check out, and hopefully even shoot, their new prototype lever action. The new rifle is a joint project between Aero and its sister company Stag Arms; the Aero version will skew more towards the tactical side and the Stag version will be more of a classic lever gun. The new rifle is based on the 1895 action and will initially be offered in .45-70 Government and .30-30 Winchester chamberings. It won’t be available any time soon, though so be patient!

New for 2024, Daniel Defense is bringing their first-ever pistol caliber carbine to market. Hop dropped in on a rain-soaked Daniel Defense range day to shoot it and get the details. The aptly but boringly named DD PCC is built around the readily available 9mm CZ Scorpion magazine pattern and has fully ambidextrous controls mirrored on both sides of the receiver. Recoil is mitigated by a hydraulic buffer system from Kynshot. Most of the other parts are standard to the AR platform. The Daniel Defense PCC will be available initially with a 16″ barrel or as a factory SBR with an 8.5″ barrel, both paired with the Daniel Defense MFR M-LOK handguard.

At Beretta Range Day at SHOT Show 2024, Hop checked out the new Beretta 92XI GTS “Twin Safety”, which adds double action capability back to the 92XI pistol. The frame-mounted safety lever previously limited the 92XI to single action only configuration, but Beretta’s new design splits the sear in two and allows the best of both worlds; the crisp single-action trigger of the 92XI, with a decocker to allow safe carry in double action mode.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at CZ headquarters to discuss 2024’s newest launch for CZ – the CZ 600 MDT. The CZ 600 MDT is a collaboration with MDT, makers of quality precision rifle and sniper rifle chassis systems. In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range 2024 visiting the guys from Flux Defense to chat about the new version of the insanely popular Flux Raider, the Raider 365. The Raider 365 will be specifically for the modular SIG P365 pistol and will be perhaps the smallest pistol chassis system in existence. Despite its novelty, it looks to be a practical, concealable option for an already practical, concealable handgun, giving you a buttstock plus a bevy of options for extended barrels, optics mounting, and stocks or braces as force-multiplying features to make your pocket pistol something of a subgun.

Luke C is at SHOT Show 2024 with Smith & Wesson to announce the introduction of their first modern lever action – the Model 1854 chambered in 44 Magnum. The Model 1854 is going to be released standard with a synthetic stock, flat-faced single-action trigger, big lever loop, and of course fun accessories like an extended hammer spur, and a 4-inch section of Picatinny rail. Smith & Wesson is also offering a much more period-correct looking Model 1854 featuring a glossy DLC blued finish, and a hybrid wood stock.
