Real Avid Releases Master Maintenance Collection for Glock

One thing that really keeps me away from doing any kind of work, and especially gunsmith work, is the lack of tools. You can be sure that sometime along the (dis)assembly you’re going to run into issues, as you don’t have that special tool or pin that some engineer decided was vital for their design. Enter Real Avid and their Master Maintenance Collection for Glock, which I’m sure would have helped at an incident earlier this week at the range.

When you think of legendary 9mm subguns, names like the Uzi, the MP5, or the Beretta PM-12 probably come to mind. What almost never comes up is Poland’s own answer: the PM-98 Glauberyt. Despite being one of the smoothest, most controllable 9mm designs ever built, this firearm has lived in relative obscurity.

POTD: Tippmann Arms M4-22 - Rimfire Revolution

My friend asked me if he should get a Ruger 10/22 for “his kids”, as in for himself. His tricks may work with his wife, but a question like that is way too transparent for me. I remembered when I tried the Tippmann Arms M4-22 and suggested that instead.

Fudd Friday: Why The Tikka Is One Of My Favorite Hunting Rifles

Over a decade ago, I stumbled across a strange-looking rifle in Cabela’s “Bargain Cave”. It had Battue-type iron sights, an 18” fluted barrel, and sat in an ugly synthetic mossy oak type camo stock. It was, however, on sale and chambered in .300WM. I needed a rifle in that caliber to take on a moose hunt that fall, so I picked it up for a closer look. The bolt had three locking lugs, a 70-degree throw and a very smooth action. The trigger was also very crisp. I purchased it on the spot, and that was my first Tikka.

MK Machining MSAC: Modular Scope Accessory Chassis

Just a few days after the news of MK Machining’s New Integrated Anti-Reflection Device Scope Caps they’re announcing the launch of the Modular Scope Accessory Chassis (MSAC). The MSAC is a new optic enhancement designed to elevate the performance for shooters across competition, hunting, and tactical applications.

Experimental Zastava M65 Light Machine Gun

Following my article on the Zastava M64, it is only fitting to continue with its lesser-known sidekick, the Zastava M65. While the M64 represented Yugoslavia’s first foray into a domestically designed assault rifle inspired by the Kalashnikov platform, the M65 was its parallel attempt to develop a complementary light machine gun (LMG) or automatic rifle within the same program. This effort formed a critical chapter in the broader FAZ (Familija Automatskog Oružja Zastava) program, which aimed to create a standardized family of automatic weapons for the Yugoslav military.

POTD: Finnish KAR-21 Multi-Caliber Rifle at Gunpoint Helsinki

Photo Of The Day: The shooting instructor Sami may disagree, but the KAR-21, manufactured by Ensio Firearms Ltd., was the main star during my visit to Gunpoint Helsinki’s indoor shooting range. Chambered in .223 Rem during testing, this rifle can be converted to .308 Win using a single tool, offering flexibility for different shooting scenarios. The rifle performed smoothly, with a comfortable recoil and a trigger that felt consistent, suitable for general use rather than precision shooting.

TFB Behind the Gun #181: Mike Slack - Engaged Industries

Today Mike will give us some timely updates on where he and his new suppressor company are at in terms of production and development, give us a sneak peek at a brand new suppressor he’s got coming out in a month or so, and also give us some of his insights into certain trends, technologies, and methedoligies that are emerging in this new suppressor market.

Ideal Shooting Gloves for Women

Let’s get real for a second ladies and gents... if you’ve spent more than one range session wiping sweat off your hands, digging your hands into gravel while working on shooting from prone, or trying to keep a solid grip while your palms feel like they’ve been dipped in canola oil, you’ve probably wondered if gloves are worth it. I sure did. And not just out of curiosity, I wanted to see if gloves could actually enhance my training, not just protect my hands. So I grabbed a pair of Viktos Operatus XP gloves, hit the range, and ran over 1,000 rounds through both pistol and rifle platforms to see how they held up. What I discovered might surprise you, especially if you're a woman looking for gear that actually fits and functions for smaller hands.

POTD: The Frozen Beast - JP Rifles PSC-12

The PSC-12. JP Enterprises doesn't make this model any longer. It was a version of the (still existing) LRP-07, but with the addition of a side-charger. There may have been changes, but the combination of a side-charger - while still keeping the original charging handle in its original place - made me go for this model. The Magpul Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish was applied at the factory. I’ve made some modifications, like a Magpul K2+ grip in FDE and a Magpul ARCA rail, to enhance the performance for DMR shooting. I also added a Triggertech two-stage trigger, which works great unless you set the trigger pull below its tolerance.

 Zastava’s First Kalashnikov, The M64

After the Assault Weapons Ban ended in 2004, I became familiar with Zastava rifles, particularly the M59/66 and the M70AB2. Before that, my gateway into the world of Kalashnikovs was the Romanian WASR-10, which initially sparked my interest in foreign firearms. I owned several Zastavas over the years. Aside from the somewhat flimsy underfolder stock, the M70AB2 was a rock-solid rifle built like a tank, which left a lasting impression.

POTD: Custom Daniel Defense With ASE Utra Suppressors

It’s time for TFB’s Photo Of The Day, so let’s explain what we’re looking at. The rifle is a Daniel Defense from the DD4 family, which got itself a spray can job. The riflescope is the now-discontinued Zeiss V8 1.1-8x, with a 36mm tube. That’s a lot larger than most LPVOs, and it’s sad they don’t make it any longer, as it’s clearly one of the best LPVOs ever made. The secondary optic is a red dot from Shield Sights, all in a Spuhr Cantilever mount.
