The American Suppressor Association hosted a special media shoot before the start of NRA 2019 to help display and show off some of the industry’s best and upcoming silencers! We at TFB were very grateful and fortunate enough to have been extended an invitation and gladly came to see everything that was on display.
There were 8 different manufacturers that were in attendance for the ASA Media Shoot. Yankee Hill Machine would have been the 9th manufacturer, and they meant to attend, but unfortunately they were diligently crafting and setting up their booth at the convention center for NRA 2019 and did not make it out to the gun range. These other companies were all in attendance with their latest and greatest:
- Gunwerks
- Rugged Suppressors
- OSS
- Daniel Defense
- Silencerco
- Gemtech
- Dead Air Armament
- Surefire
Even though it turned out to be a rainy, overcast day the whole afternoon that did not dampen the spirits of everyone that was in attendance exploring the new products, and generally having a blast shooting various NFA items. Whether it was a silencer, a short-barreled rifle (SBR), or something in full-auto, it was difficult to visit any manufacturer and not leave their booth with a tremendous smile on your face.
The above example of an NFA item is a rare piece because it is what NFA lovers affectionately call a “two-fer” or a “2-stamper” meaning it requires 2 NFA Tax Stamps. As the description explains, the owner registered it as an SBR; although, the Flux Brace (at the moment) does not force any owner of a firearm to technically do so.
This little number above turned quite a few heads at the ASA Media Shoot because it is a NEW Surefire .300 Blackout silencer that has not been announced yet. It was openly on display to be handled and fired, but at the moment no definitive specifications or pricing were available, but that should come very soon.
While those in attendance today were safely hiding under a canopy from the down pour of rain, this little Dead Air Armament silencer ventured out into the elements to wash himself off and perform the 1st documented “Rain Endurance and Performance Test.” Results have not been compiled yet at this time, but will be available soon (we are poking fun, obviously).
Gunwerks was a surprising attendee at the ASA Media Shoot because of their NEW 6IX and 8IGHT silencers they brought, but also because of the calibers that they brought for people to shoot. They brought two different rifles of theirs chambered in 6.5 PRC and 28 Nosler which are popular among western big-game hunters and long-range shooters, but not everyone gets an opportunity to launch these rounds down range.
Another highlight was the Rugged Suppressors Radiant 762 silencer which allows the user to change from a full configuration to a K configuration with no tools required. It also boasts a Dual Taper Locking System that not only resoundingly locks your suppressor into place, but it keeps the weapon system cleaner as a whole.
Is there a silencer product that you were looking forward to getting some more information on that we did not discuss or was not covered in a previous article today? If so, which silencer are you hoping to gather some more information on? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
