[NRA 2019] NEW Gunwerks 6IX and 8IGHT Silencers from the ASA Shoot

Gunwerks is a company known for their precision rifles and their equally high-caliber training in long-range shooting. Now they can add “silencer aficionados” to their list of skills for hunters and shooters alike. While at the American Suppressor Association’s (ASA) Media Shoot for the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meetings (NRAAM 2019) we got a closer look at the NEW Gunwerks 6IX and 8IGHT silencers!

While many silencer companies tend to lump their offerings into two standardized sizes (.30 Cal and .22 Cal) which work really well, Gunwerks has decided to deviate from this path for a set of more purposeful silencers. The 6IX silencer is tailored for cartridges that are 6mm in diameter and smaller while the 8IGHT suppressor covers the gamut of .308 diameter rounds down to 6mm.

The thought behind this is to get a set of silencers that is more geared or purpose driven towards popular hunting and shooting cartridges overwhelming the marketplace. Most people will hunt with rounds varying from 6.5 Creedmoor up to potentially .300 Winchester Magnum which the 8IGHT can cover. Then, for shooters who deploy smaller bullets for varmint or target shooting the 6IX would cover the smaller remainder.

This unique tandem of silencers between the 6IX and 8IGHT is not new technology by any stretch, but it is a much more thoughtful scheme for devising a silencer line-up. Speaking of technology, Gunwerks does employ good materials, design, and craftsmanship into the 6IX and 8IGHT silencers, even still.

    • 17-4 Stainless Tubeless Welded Design for a Low Drag Suppressor Body
    • Modular Thread Adapters of ½”x28 TPI and 5/8”x24 TPI Included
    • Tunable Bore Reducers Available – 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm and .30 Cal
    • Minimal Point-of-Impact Shift

At the time that we were discussing these new silencers with Gunwerks today, they did not have retail pricing set in stone yet. Understanding that everything Gunwerks does is of high-quality with pricing to typically match, we could see these near or above the $1,000 price point.

So while most silencer companies are only making silencers in a .30 Cal or .22 Cal centerfire size, what do you think of the NEW 6IX and 8IGHT from Gunwerks? Is this something that you would like to try and take with you on your next hunting trip? Let us know what you think in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

UPDATE: The Gunwerks silencer pricing is $849.99 for the 6IX and $899.99 for the 8IGHT. This information was available on the Gunwerks website at the time of this article being published, but I missed that information. My apologies.
