Heathen Systems is a firearm accessories manufacturer located in Hailey, Idaho. Their main product is a compact and lightweight bipod called Assaulter. The base of this bipod also doubles as a barrier stop and a hand stop. Let’s take a look at other features of this bipod.

Another feature of the Assaulter bipod is its quick detach legs. The non-adjustable 8 1/2″ legs can be easily detached and clipped to each other making a very compact assembly which doesn’t take much space and can be easily stored. When the legs are detached, you still have the barricade and hand stop base. The legs also can be detached and stored on the base part parallel to the bore (see the image below). The company points out that the Assaulter bipod takes minimal rail space when mounted.

The base of the bipod, as well as the core of the legs, are made of 7075 aluminum. The legs are also overmolded with a fiber reinforced polymer. The overall weight of the Assaulter bipod is 3 oz including the legs.

The Heathen Assaulter bipod is available through the manufacturer’s website at an MSRP of $89.95. A spare set of legs is also available separately at an MSRP of $34.95.

The idea behind this bipod is to offer a light and compact solution to those shooters for whom shooting from the bipod is not a primary and common stance, but who could improve their long-range accuracy if they had a minimalistic and handy bipod to use when needed. It looks to be a well thought out design – simple, compact, modular, lightweight. The only thing that I am concerned about is how rigid the legs are. They look really thin. However, making statements based on my personal perception of the appearance (without having tested it) is not fair. I think, if this bipod works as it is advertised to, then it is a really good accessory.
