Smith & Wesson Adds New M&P Color Option: M&P9 Metal FDE

Smith & Wesson M&P9 Metal FDE

Smith & Wesson has just announced a new color option for their M&P9 Metal frame model, Flat Dark Earth (FDE). This offering also includes a threaded barrel and also comes optics-ready from the factory. The new S&W M&P9 Metal FDE frame still retains the same features as the previous Metal model but adds a more personalized flair if the Flat Dark Earth look is what you’re going for. As for the standard Metal M&P’s, this brings the Cerakote color count options to two, with the first being Tungsten Grey. There’s also a Black Cerakote option that’s only available to the Law Enforcement market at present. If you’re in the market for OD Green pistols, the S&W’s Spec Series carries that option. You can find the features and specs of the M&P9 Metal FDE below.

The performance that began with our polymer construction is now forging forward. The lightweight and rigid metal frame of the Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Metal provides an extraordinary foundation for higher performance. Built on the M&P platform, it is compatible with all M2.0 magazines, slides holsters and palmswells.

The new S&W M&P9 Metal FDE M2.0 has a listed MSRP of $899, and you can find the dedicated page HERE for more information, or visit Smith-Wesson.com to view all of their firearms and other products. You can also follow S&W on Instagram, Facebook, and X. I didn’t expect to see so many comments on the Instagram page clamoring for a steel-framed version compared to the aluminum used for the M&P Metal line.
What do you think about the M&P9 Metal FDE? Would you mount an optic or keep the iron sights? Will you join the crowd calling for a steel framed version, or is the aluminum frame just right?
